An interesting selection of compositions. The middle one is still an urn plant!

Beware of lily pollen. It is fatal (agonisingly), even in small quantities, to cats who ingest it

Hmm, the high contrast lighting is too alien-like for my taste. I like your compositions but the light just doesn't touch me like a naturally lighted flower does.

Likewise, I like the compositions but have to agree that the light is a bit harsh in places, especially in 2 and 4.

Interesting series with nice compositions and colour, as said above, the light is a little harsh for my tastes but I still like the images.

Thanks for all of the comments. I was definitely going for harsher lighting here. The pistol and stamen of the plant just looked so alien that I was trying to accentuate that. As for the black background, I can't claim any magic there. It's just a black t-shirt taped up behind the subject and some creative control of lighting and depth of field. Here's a shot of a previous setup to give you an idea:
