p.1 #1 · Pentax K to EOS AF Confirm on 5d, help??

I recently purchased a Pentax K to EOS AF Confirm adapter so I can mount a Pentax-A 70-210 F/4 and Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7 to my Canon 5D. They say a little bit of lens needs to be shaved in order to clear the mirror. I am assuming they mean the little metal lever that sticks out the mount side of the lens?

Can anyone confirm this for me and maybe even point me to some instructions on how and how much to remove?

Thank you,

- Shawn

P.S. I did a search here but couldn't find anything specific.

That's an aperture leverectomy. Works great!

Note that doing the leverectomy means you'll have to use stop-down metering if you decide later to put the lens on a Pentax body.

Thanks Greg. I do not intend to go back to Pentax DSLR's again, but I do appreciate that information.

Got it mounted and it is working pretty well so far. Only took a few shots so far.

I bought the Pentax K to EOS mount AF Confirm adapter from Ebay Seller KPDIGISTORE http://stores.shop.ebay.com/KPDIGISTORE__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Operation is simple. Set the camera to AV, then use the aperture ring on the lens to set your aperture. The camera will meter normally. Also, you get the focus confirmation blinkie and beep.

I also have a Pentax-A 70-210mm F/4 that I will buy an adapter for.

All shot with the Pentax-A 50mm F/1.7 @ 1.7

Is it really important to have AF confirming in an adapter?

ONly if you want to know when you have locked focus.

If you have amazing eyes, you can get one without AF confirm and eyeball the focus or buy a Split or Microprism and install it on your camera.

The only way to get the AF confirm light and Beep using old or alternate lenses is to buy and use an AF Confirm adapter.

I hope that helps.
