Truthfully Ray, much as I love the 200-400, the 100-500 RF is pretty incredible at a fraction of the cost and weight. This ever changing technology has me second guessing a lot of stuff.
I am concerned about the f:7.1 aperture in our low light dungeons here. I use 5.6 with the 100-400 so I thought I could set the 200-400 at the same aperture and still be good.
However, I am blown away with the high ISO performance the R6 has (I was shooting 51k last Friday). I may try to shoot some test photos at 7.1 to check the results. Like Rob, I enjoy walking the sidelines with a lighter rig.
The interpolation to FM does not do the R3 images justice, they are beyond sharp, and have a noticeable tonal quality that my other cameras do not. Why oh why isn't it 50MP...............?
Tremendous works, Jim and Rob. I have never seen the BA in their yellow outfit in the 25 + BA shows I have gone to. They will perform 6 or 7 times within 250 miles radius from me next year. Can't wait!

There is no RAW converter for the R3 as of this writing, so I shot RAW + L JPEG. Until I have time to look at the files on my iMac, I'll reserve final judgement, but my initial reaction is, it's pretty darn good.

I can tell you that the annoying focus hunting that the R5/6 does occasionally, is gone with the R3.........but so is six grand.........
So crisp, clear, vibrant...3D-ish Jim!!! Well done!

Thanks! There's something about a weapon that's just completely fit for purpose that transcends.
I actually took quite a number of pictures of the wart hog this weekend. More than I thought I was taking

I am sure Canon is cooking up a high resolution monster that will go toe to toe with the Sony A1 and the Nikon Z9.
In the mean time, a few shots from yesterday's trip to Benezette, Pa, drove 8 hours, saw a couple elks for 20 minutes
The Blues wore the original yellow flight shuts for their 75th Anniversary commemoration, one flight, then returned to the current blue flight suits. And man, those suits are "GOLD!"
I'm headed to Fed-Ex to ship off my 800mm. One is always ambivalent about parting with a great piece of equipment like the Canon 800mm, but my timing is perfect. I imagined hauling out the 800mm at AFW, the battle with heat haze, the ensuing knot in my lower right back muscles, and the two weeks of working those knots out....................yup, I'm at peace with it. What an incredible lens though, for it's new owner to enjoy.

I'm sure that Navy veterans are mumbling "GOLD, not yellow"

I was going to say gold but it looks more yellow than gold. I didn't get to see the BA on ground in the two shows I went this year, so I missed seeing them in GOLD. I saw pictures of the TB in red outfit, never seen that in person either.
Where's a good place to send a 7D and a 70-200 for focus problems
Other than CPS.
Serious back focus or no focus and not sure what to do other than buy a new camera and/or lens.
