Back in the saddle. Since the practices were during the daytime hours I used the 5DSR with the 100-400 II. Very limited action as the players can only suit up with helmets, no pads, and there is no contact allowed...until Saturday. The red team practiced at 8 am, the blue at 7 pm.
I'm headed out for a few hours. When I get back I expect to find that one of you has pushed us over the 8 million view mark. Quite a milestone, thank you all for being a part of this conversation, sorry we've lost a few good group members along the way due to political positions, but that is what it is and we all have to do what we think is right. I can't imagine my life without the friendship, knowledge, support and caring you all have showered on me, and each other.
8 million views, wish we could have figured out a way to monetize that...................

Pretty simple solution for a photography website... Eliminate the political comments and innuendo from posts. There only seems to be one or two folks that are repeat offenders.

Doing that would have relegated MA2A to the dustbin of typical "photography website" threads, that run a few pages over a couple days.
Not doing that has allowed MA2A to morph into a family/community of people sharing a love of aviation/aircraft, aviation photography, photography in general, and a general respect for those others that contribute to this thread. Yes there have been a couple disagreements that went a little to far, but I can count the number of those using only my thumbs.
By not following the typical "photography website" rules, the MA2A thread "series" (original plus sequels) has lasted over 15 years, and is pushing somewhere in the range of 1000 pages. Remember that 8 million views that Jim Wilson mentioned a couple posts ago? That is just the view count for this "sequel" thread, not the entire Mustang Air to Air thread "series".
Look around Fred Miranda and see just how many threads there are that approach the size of this one. Then look at how many of those threads are not "gear specific" threads. To paraphrase a movie quote "We don't need no stinking rules". Common sense, personal decency, and a shared love/passion, have been all the "rules" needed for Mustang Air to Air to thrive for all these years. That and Fred Miranda's allowing MA2A to grow on his site with minimal oversite, only "putting his foot down" on those couple occasions when it appeared to be necessary.
I would like to (and we all should) thank Fred Miranda for his generosity in giving us a "home", and his benign forbearance, that has allowed our family/community to develop into what it has become, within his website.

And I am afraid I am the worst offender, and that's unlikely to change. My kumbaya attitude of yesteryear has been trampled over the last couple of years. Near as I can remember, there's only been one person, a charter member and a good friend, who has been directly challenged to change his behavior or bow out, and I miss him regularly but it was the right thing to do. Everyone else gets to decide if this is a place they want to spend their time, or not. MA2A doesn't have 8M hits because we bludgeon folks or make them feel uncomfortable.
Seven years ago when Ross Jr. came to me and asked me to get up to speed with video, aside from being panic stricken, there was this glimpse of what it would be like to create incredible stuff like these guys. Seven years later, realistically, I hav etc come to grips with the fact that I'm never going to produce end product at that level. I am very grateful to Ross and Matt for pushing me in that direction, and I'v made a lot of money that I would not have made, but it's a young man's (or woman's) game and at some point you gotta come to grips with your limitations. I had a person ask me about shooting POV drone work recently, took me about 1/2 second to say, sorry, not my market.
Fun stuff and incredible technology though. Think of what is possible now that we wouldn't have dreamed of just a few short years ago.
Speaking of Ross Jr., I felt a pull to stop by and spend a few minutes with Mr. Perot a few days ago. I was close and had a little time between changing light so I took some quiet time to spend with my memories of Sr. and the influence he and Ross Jr. have had on my life. Quite a privilege to be associated with a family so steeped in history and more importantly integrity...........

Well...I'm glad I wandered in. Been scratching my head trying to figure out what the heck "Mustang Air to Air the Sequal" was all about.
Saw an explanation just above this. Much appreciated to not have to read through a 1000 pages lol.
Hats off to ya'll for your past and future success!
I'm more of a Corsair man (father was in the Corp), but I'll take a killer shot of a Mustang over a lot of the stuff posted here any day!
