Thank you so much Dan!!! Hmmm... If they are flying over Arlington towards DC, the Netherlands Carrion will be the wrong spot then! I need to rethink this, maybe I will skip the DC fireworks this year and head over the Ft. Mchenry.
Scout out Ft McHenry but also check out Federal Hill just blocks from the Inner Harbor! It is very elevated but am not sure of visability due to trees looking ENE to the Fort( about a mile from Federal Hill..same neighboorhood.
Ft McHenry you used to be able to walk the above ground area. There is a very old "Domino Sugar" neon plant sign acroos the river from the Fort. Unobstructed views from the Fort!
Good luck where ever you go!!

Thanks Joe! I believe that Canon "invented" themselves out od a $20,000 sale with this one. I might end up eating my words at some point, but I just can't imagine the investment would be worth it to me. I spent the morning out on a SeaDoo shooting wildlife with the RF200-800. Bit of a challenge bobbing around with that focal length, but what the heck..........

Ok Jim yes it has "wings"........
Funnin' ya!
Happy Independence Day!
Dan
The LRRP, Long Range Recon Patrols were only allowed to Infantry Divisions. Hence "H" Co 75th Rangers..The 1st Cav was desinated an "Airmobile Div..not Infantry.

Oh Indeed Jim! I have had Canon EF800, 600, now my 500 and it is as good, even better!

"MB"..I believe I spoke to the fact that in Maryland , Aberdeen Proving Grounds in NE Maryland has a "live fire" range for tanks, "dustbusters", artillery and some slower moving jets as the A10. Years ago I was on the dirt road and I hear the growl of a "gattling gun", crested the hill and by gosh there were 2 A10's shredding the "dummies" on the range!
Impressive to say the least!
Now I expect to be seeing some great images from your experiences with your new toy Mike!
Dan
The Blair Lakes Firing Range was set up so the road to the new maintenance facility from camp was parallel to the path the A10’s roared in on. From a distance it sounded like a trucks jake brake but when they got closer the sound was incredible.
I took the new toy to a jobsite this morning and came home with 61Gb of stills and video to download. Let the learning curve begin.
Dan, thanks for the info. I just found out the link you posted was for the 2020 flyover. Very little details have been released about tomorrow's flyover. This afternoon at Andrews AFB Trump mentioned the flyover will be around 5:00, he also mentioned B-2s, F-22s and F-35s. Without knowing the direction they are flying from, I think the safest bet for me is the middle of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, I can pretty much see them no matter which direction they are coming from. But it's a heck of a walk back to the Netherlands Carrion for the fireworks, carrying the gear in hot weather.

I was going to inform you that POTUS did indeed say in a speech that the flyover would be around 5pm..If there is a way you can monitor the flyover as it heads from Philly to DC..you will get a better handle on "when" the aircraft will arrive to you.
Good luck brother! Hope it is a "chiller"(goosebumps) for ya!

A few more Tomcats, just because. Hurts to think it'll be 20 years next year since the USN retired them.
Hard to relinquish memories mate! Your images, and those of all posters here on MA2A, allow us to immortalize these memories.
Thanks Kevin!
Anybody interested in the A-10, The History(Military History Channel) channel had a great documentary on the A10. Great true story of a "Bright Light mission" in Serbia.

One cannot imagine the devastation that the A10's gattling gun can do in a short burst!
Yes we had "Hueys" with "chain guns" or "Spooky" with its "death from above" but this aircraft would have put a win in the American military's column for Vietnam. CAS was essential when overwhelmed while "in contact".
The Warthog is my favourite aircraft to shoot and I'd be all over the remaining units whilst there's still time if I could. Had some great photo ops over the years and great memories of them based in England in the 80s.

Dan, Before I headed over the Arlington yesterday, I watched a clip of Trump talking to reporter at Andrews, he did mention the flyover around 5:00PM. I learned yesterday afternoon the flyover would be coming from north to south over the Whitehouse. I kept debating whether I should move to the Arlington Memorial Bridge for the flyover and come back to the Netherlands Carrilon for the fireworks, at the end I decided to stay put at the Netherlands Carrilon vicinity. The flyover was pretty far away from there but the elevation and light were better. Had I gone to the bridge, I would have gotten closer view but shooting up. The flyovers shots are heavily cropped.
