p.1 #1 · Sandisk Extreme Pro slower than Sandisk Extreme?
Can somebody please explain?...
I just purchased a 16GB Extreme Pro (UDMA7,90 MB/s) CF card in hopes of increasing my buffer speeds in burst. Same settings were used for both card tested on a 1D Mark IV (in manual mode). I first shot the older Extreme card (UDMA, 60MB/s). It fired 27 shots before hesitating for the 28th. It then took 9 seconds to clear the buffer. I then shot the new Extreme Pro card. Once again, it shot the same 27 shots before hesitating for the 28th, then took 29 seconds to clear the buffer.
Needless to say, I am a bit disappointed for the extra $ spent. Does the Mark IV not recognize/utilize the UDMA7 technology?

I can't answer the specific question, but I can say this: my 1DIV manual says it recognizes "UDMA-compatible" recording media, while my 1DX manual says it recognizes "UDMA mode 7-compatible" recording media. To me, this implies that the 1DIV doesn't use the full capability of UDMA-7 cards.
OTOH, the UDMA-7 cards may still download faster, depending on the card reader and port that you use.

Paul makes a good suggestion. My 1DIV is at firmware v110. My 1DIV definitely 'saturates' faster than my 1DX, but I haven't compared specific cards in the 1DIV.
I use Transcend UDMA-7 64GB and 32GB cards in both the 1DIV and 1DX. I have some older SanDisk Ertreme UDMA cards that are definitely slower - used in my 5DII.

Updated firmware (1.1.1). Still fills at 27 shots, but clears in 7 seconds. So, for $23 I saved two seconds. I guess you never know when that might come in handy.

2 seconds is massive - another 20 frames every now and then.

But if you shoot a long burst pressing the shutter button 30 or 60 seconds, then the difference will be maybe 30-40 more shots....
