Spent 9 days in S. Utah visiting Capitol Reef, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Several days with two excellent guides, Guy Tal and Bret Edge. And 5 days on our own. Wow. I am still sorting through images of iconic and not so iconic locations. Work has been getting in the way! But here is an icon. Just made it up the trail before the good light hit. I positioned myself away from the crowd of photographers on a semi-precarious ledge. All was fine however except when some bozo above me dropped his lens hood which almost smacked me in the head and nearly caused me to let go of my tripod and camera! Whew. everything survived, except the guys lens hood!
Hey Mike,
Very unusual perspective of Delicate Arches; don't think I've seen that shot before. Fantastic light!
Glad that lens cap didn't cause a big problem!
Looks like you went through the hole in the rocks and sat on the ledge. Fun place to shoot from. Glad ya didn't drop your gear, long haul to get it back. lol

Beautiful shot Mike, well done! I've sat patiently at this location on each of my two visits to Arches and watched the stunning light show evolve. Your image is very sweet and reminds me of those wonderful visits

Hrmmm, did you happen to be at Delicate Arch on 10/5? If so, I was that bozo who accidentally dropped the lens hood! I should've been more careful with my gear - I can't believe Nikon charges $30 for a cheap piece of plastic.
I remember a funny moment that day when a woman tried to step under the arch but quickly got yelled at by multiple photographers. First time I've ever seen & heard anything like that, I thought it was hilarious.

Yep, I was the guy who tried to catch your lens hood and almost let go of his tripod in the process. And I was the guy who yelled over-loudly "Get out of there!!" at the lady under the arch!
