What is the date code on the lens ?

The date code is either U01008 (with a crossed 0) or U61008 - it is hard to read. Lens was bought in 2005, from B&H. Used occasionally but never heavily used.

Sounds like a "US" datecode then, it's 2 letters

Who knows about the date code. I do know it was bought new in 2005, from B&H, and I have the receipt.
