Last light or the harsh reality of high noon, this sucker delivers.

I've been walkin' around with the AF-S 300 f4
onna BushHawk, tweakin' my settings...takin' my time. Took about 2000 clicks to dial it in to my style of shootin'
and I'm pretty pleased with the results SOOC. Yeah, no doubt sacrelige...but that's how I roll.

Barrels tonight,
gettin' dark early so I'll bring along the 70-200 VR II...should be fun! I'll be posting a follow-up thread. Thx

(1.2X horses/RR's 1.5 & FX respectively, and all were cropped ~50% ea.)

Just bought a D800 and need a new lens. How is the 70-200 VR II? I have read mixed reviews, especially regarding price versus performance. Thanks.

I now shoot for a living (along with my SS check) and 80% of my sales are with the 70-200 VR II.
It's truly remarkable, but read what you like.

Regardless, welcome to FM...and post up some shots!

(I shoot events, the ABQ brewpub music scene, rodeo, and BIF) The lens rocks in ANY light.

Will, I'm curious why you went with the D800 when you were killing them with the D7000 and D3?

Still shoot 'em both weekly...along with the D700, Leighton. Had to see what all the fuss was about.

Had lots of requests for a D800 'monkey set, and sales of the D7K's were in the dozens so.....
Seems anytime a new AF is introduced, I get deluged with PM's for settings. Keeps me in beer.
