! Dudes, you guys are too funny, man! I appreciate the support. : ) All I can say is, someone's gonna get a great deal on this package, as I spent more than $1500 on the tripod and head alone.
This is a great deal. Unfortunately after spending the last week in negotiations the purchase has been deemed as not meeting WAF. Bummer as this has been my dream lens for six years now and I do need the plate + gimbal head and the tripod is a step up from my 1348 (and yes I tried explaining that I can sell my 1348 to reduce the cost).
One piece of advice though is I think you will do better if you split the package up. If you list the lens at say $6400, the gimbal at perhaps $350 and the tripod at $500 I expect these will not last long and you will end up making more.
Recently I had a very hard time selling my 5D2 at $1600 in a package that included a RRS L-plate. I wound up splitting them up and selling my L-plate for $60 and the camera for $1550 and they both sold quickly. Unfortunately most people cannot do the math for packages.
I was able to find only three other 600mm copies for sale. Adorama has one at $7k (no case) and one at $7.5k (with case). Lensrentals has one at $6290 with free shipping, but taxes bring it up to $6700 and that copy has more wear than yours.
The lens is selling for $7,000. If the buyer wants the tripod and gimbal head, it's his. No charge. I just don't want to get stuck with a tripod and head I'll never have a need for. The lens by itself is well worth the $7k, as it's in excellent condition. Any less and I'll keep it. Close to reconsidering the sale, but two people are flying in on Friday to look at it.
