p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Help me rationalize my long lenses please

I have too many overlapping long lenses (70-200 ii, 70-300L, 100-400L, 300 2.8 is, 1.4 ii, 2.0 iii) and am thinking about getting rid of either the 100-400 or 70-300L. I mainly do travel, hiking, wildlife with 5diii and 7d. I don't have to do this it just seems sensible. Any thoughts welcomed.

Cheers

Doug

Can you do an exit check and see how many are taken between 300 and 400? If its not many, get rid of the 100-400. Wen you need 400 you still have the option on 70-200+2xTC III (which I have used to good effect) and if weight isn't an issue, the 300 2.8 IS plus the 1.4x TC will produce Stellar results.

When you travel if 300-400 is a rarity in your focal length, then just take the 70-300

Edit: I've assumed your 70-200 is the 2.8 II and not the 70-200 f4 IS

you could probably get away with getting rid of both the 70-300L & 100-400L to be completely honest..

dunno how you'd rationalize it, but personally, i'm just speaking from an IQ/performance standpoint.. you keep your two best performers + the extenders, and you get rid of the lesser lenses without losing any range except at the very long end..

if travel with an all-purpose zoom is a big thing, get rid of just the 70-300L & keep the very convenient 100-400L?

my 2 cents..
