You don't need a RAW file, the info can also be read from an in-camera JPG. The JPG file must be completely un-modified though (i.e., shouldn't be re-sized or modified any other way). Once you have a high-res JPG file you can load it into any freeware EXIF viewer to view the shutter count. I use PhotoME: http://www.photome.de/
