Well today I went out to try for some se owl shots at our local " owl town spot " as we call it. Since I'm going to sell my 1D3 body I decided to only use the 5D2 and the 400 5.6 lens. It ain't no 1d3 but it did hit a couple bif. Any day shootin' birds is a good day
Thanks for looking and your comments are always welcome
Mike
Very nicely done Mike! The opener is one heck of a shot On criticism, most of these are cropped a bit centered, I would suggest leaving more room in front of the bird than behind
This is good stuff. You seem to have got a great habitat there (excellent background/foreground bokeh), good light, and a fascinating subject which cruises low enough so that you do not have to shoot upwards nor show any sky......a winning formula in my old books.
I'd also like to reiterate Tim's comment about framing. In addition, if you can get closer to the bird or perhaps deploy a longer lens ( both are hard to do, I know), I believe this kind of shots could evolve into a National geographic type material.
