Hi there.I was wondering if someone could tell me how much i should expect to pay for a Canon FD 150-600mm f/5.6 zoom lens in mint condition?.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
what do you intend to do with it? you are aware FD glass does not mount to EF (without adpaters or surgery) ?
The problem with costing old FD glass is you could pick it up for peanuts one day and pay tons for it another.
FD is starting to raise in price due to the ability to mount them easily (with adapters) onto mirrorless systems like NEX and M4/3rds .
the shere likely hood that you wont see one come up that often here in the UK is going to make it more likely you would pay what asked if your wanting it.
Hey Ian,thanks for reply.
If im totally honest i want to seel one but have no idea how much to ask for it.It was left to me by an elderly man i knew.I am a novice photographer myself but this piece of kit is way out of my league.Any ideas??
I've seen them go for $2500.00 to $4100.00 over the past few years. FM member Burningheart (Robert) may still own one...so he can give you some insight to their worth from an owner/operator standpoint. I do know that quite a few were converted for use for cine/video use back in the day. Of all the FD "L" glass, I never had the urge to purchase one, but they should be good performers based on the use of UD glass.
Hey thanks for your help if im honest i have one of these lenses,it was left to me by an elderly man i knew but i have no idea what to do with it.ive taken it to some photography shops but they wont touch it saying its too specialised.it seems a waste to have it sitting around, any ideas??.many thanks again

actualy thinking about it , there is a guy who makes a dual EOS adapter for FD . it has a glass that can be removed . I think he is in scotland amd has a pretty good following so if you can find his details (he used to advertise on Ebay) he could probably point you in a better direction.
Also like I said its easy to get these mounted on Nex/M4/3rds so hunting down a couple of sites dedicated to those formats may be a good place as well
I wish u were at this end of the country as im nt sure what it was used for or how to tell as i have other equipment that was left to me too.For instance a Canovision 8mm video camera and recorder EX1 with zoom ..plus various other lenses.would you be interested in lens or perhaps know someone who would be.It looks to be in mint condition and with its original carry box and instructions?.
