I would be extremely cautious when busting old optical glass, especially if it has Thorium or other radioactive elements in it, breathing them in is just bad bad bad.
These aren't that old, and Vivitar was more of a budget brand, so I would be very surprised if there were radioactive elements in there (they are also clear, not coloured at all), but I will be careful.

I did have a spanner wrench, so i used two small screwdrivers . I started from the rear removing each retaining ring and glass element. The rings were not real tight. The last final element didnt seem to have a slotted retaining ring- that glass i broke out. I never had to dissamble any part of the front or rear lens mount.

I hope so.
I don't know why I keep buying all these soft style options.
I guess I'm a total softy, *8^)
I have soo many different style soft lenses now, it's crazy.
I'll have to catalog them, and make a giant comparison compilation some day.

If it is in good condition I think you will be very happy with it on FF and APS-C. The lens holds up very well even on my NX200, while still retaining the variable SF effect.

Ah, another one wants spherical aberration control - I bought for that a second copy of the Sigma YS System Focusing 135mm f/2.8 with extra macro focus ring, which allows me to get to different bokeh quality with one lens.

Yeah, I already have many different ones, my recent being a Mamiya 645 145/4.
And many for my 4x5 sinar f2, along w/ many fast petzvals.
I am a sucker for this type of gear, sigh...

Reminds me of the days when I was into stacking multiple teleconverters for my Lumix camera. I was on the roofdeck of a high rise apartment building taking snaps of people on the streets. I can imagine if I had something like above that time someone would've most likely called the cops!
Can't wait to mount this on my 5D! It's taking ages for the adapter to arrive

Argh, painful re-purchase for the MMJ C/Y 35/1.4, as mine was stolen.
I guess it's all good, as this was my most liked lens.
And all things considered, not that far from my initial purchase price.
Heh, I guess the box, etc. adds value.
Shrug, looking around, I seem too like boxes too. *8^)

It looks cool, Damon, but I can imagine that set-up inspiring some interesting unintended conversations.

I just bought an Olympus 50mm f/1.2 Zuiko. The lens is in great condition and got the original shade with it. First impression is positive. Will take time to compare it against my current Leica 50/2 Summicron-R and possibly some other 50mm lenses.
Some lensporn. Images lit up with my compuer screen and a reflector
First impression is positive. It's reasonably sharp at f/1.2 but nowhere near my Zeiss 35/2, but still perfectly usable for most shots. It seems to sharpen up at f/2 but I need to test it more. There's lot of CA wide open but seems easily correctable in Lightroom.

Found this nice set in the classifieds. Had a long, nice chat to the former owner when I picked it up. Can't wait to try out the PC Distagon but will probably have to sell some other gear to fund the purchase.

Nice job! Is it the same lens as Samyang 35/1.4?
Thanks! Yes, it's the same. I originally bought it for my m4/3 camera. That was before I decided to go back to a dslr. I should've just bought it in Canon mount in the first place

I've been on a bit of a Contax binge lately. (Contax AX with 35-70/3.4 and Contax 139Q with 50/1.7...139Q is little more than a lens cap at this point since it has the shutter release magnet failure issue)
