If you want i can send you some pictures @f1.2 -f4 of the 2 lenses. because right now i don't have any light room or photoshop to crop and stich those pictures....
Oh OK, no problem
I can just waiting for your next uploaded photos to observe the lens' characters.
I have the 85L II and Contax Zeiss 85/1.4. I like 85L for it's sharpness at f/1.2 which is amazing (I read that the old FD 85/1.2 aspherical is sharper (?)) and the thin DOF effect, but sometimes the color looks a bit reddish and often blown the higlight at f/1.2 in certain contrast condition.
The Zeiss 85 is my favorite lens. The color is a bit colder but the rendering and bokeh is very gorgeous for my eyes.

I don't know about the fd 85 1.2 aspherical but I'm having the fd 85 1.2L and the sharpness is very good thou, very much the same as 85L II, and there some tests have proven that the fd 85L is as sharp as 85 aspherical )
Btw, I'm a 85 FL madness....currently have 4 of that FL right now....

As a fan of the FD85L and the 85mm focal length, I wonder if you could describe how you use it. A 5D type camera can not focus to infinity without a shaved mirror. I haven't heard talk of shaved 5D mirrors for a long time now.

Well, I think we have to make a new post about 85mm lens, since I am a fans too and currently exploring the characters of all 75-85mm lenses I could get.
I had ten 85mm lenses (including Canon/Sigma AF lenses & 1 Nikon AF lens used with adapter) and three 80mm lenses
I am not collecting them though, at the end I will pick just few lenses I like the characters the most and sell the others

My favourites are:
Mamiya-Sekor M645 C 80/2.8 N
Mamiya-Sekor M645 C 80/4 N Macro
Rokinon 85/1.4 Asp
Canon EF 85/1.2 L II
Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85/1.4 MM
Leica Summicron-R 90/2 E55
I don't have the adapter to EF mount yet, not sure if I'll have to modify it either. lots of weird stuff on the back (it's my first nikon lens).
I don't really know what I've got my hands on here, the build feels very nice.

gpop -- I see it's a 105mm f/2.8, non-AI P-model. I think you should be able to mount it on a Nikon to EOS adapter to Canon bodies without modification.
*********
I'm in the middle of a small Alt buying flurry. Just received my first Leica lens: R version of 60mm f/2.8 macro, which seems to be a tremendous lens based on my initial tests.
I'm waiting on a second Leica (may show up today or tomorrow), another R-series 28/2.8 (with bayonet hood), and seems to get mixed reviews, so we'll see -- I'm optimistic until proven otherwise.
And . . . just today I paid for a Zeiss/Contax 135/2.8, which seems like it might be decent. Optimism continues. . .

Oops! Another one just in. Total cost $30, including shipping from Russia, with love.
Jim, that little Industar 50-2 is one of my favorite lenses and is one of the few 'Alts' that I regularly carry with me on actual jobs (I generally leave my Leica, Zeiss, Mamiya etc at home). I got mine for free due to a shipping error where the return shipping ($12) would cost more than the lens was worth so I was allowed to keep it. They are extraordinarilly cheap lenses anyway.
I find it has swirly bokeh at close range, powerful and in your face, is sharp enough wide open (not stunning) but gives a fairly smooth almost dreamy bokeh at medium distances. It is VERY sharp at F8, maybe sharper than my 24-70 L (my regular work lens).
The only thing I can't stand obout this lens is the damn aperture ring being on the face of the focus ring. You can't turn it without affecting focus. Anyhoo, I really like this lens, for it's faults/character. Give it a go.
Mine has Latin text whilst your has Cyrilic (spelling). I'm not sure how much variation there is in these lenses, still, you could buy several and still not break a $100 dollar note!

Thanks JJ. I'll certainly give it a work out. It's so darned small! I agree that the aperture ring is bogus, but that just makes it a bit more 'alternative'.
