Just picked up a mint (2013 stock) Russian Zenit/Helios 40-2 85mm f/1.5 lens. This is a heavy monster lens! This copy is all black and has the same formula as the old lenses. Not sure if the coatings are any different. It definitely needs a lens hood. The one thing the new copies are missing when compared to the older stock is the tripod collar. No way I am going to risk hanging this bohemith on my a7RII with a tripod.
First quick tests wide open are "interesting." Can't say I am in love with the handling characteristics but I think I will grow to like this lens. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against my newly purchased GDR 135/2.8 Pentacon?

Hi Piere,
Congratulations. The 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt is a superb optic expecially considering its age. It is my go to lens in the focal length and is relatively small and light. From there I step up to my Leica R 280mm f4 Apo Telyt.
The 3 ring sets are the most useful and when used with a double cable release the lens can be used wide open for viewing and then stopped down to the working aperture by the cable relase.

Just got a pair of LTM Voigtlanders, the old Ultron 35/1.7 and the 50/1.5. Initial impressions are that neither have the contrast of the newer Voigtlanders. The Ultron doesn't seem as good as the M version (not close) but will do some more similar shots to better evaluate.
Also got a Yongnuo 35/2. Second copy for me, regretted selling the first!

I had the Ultron 35/1.7 LTM for a while. I liked the results. However, the mfd was not very handy.
My most recent addition is a Zeiss CY Vario-Sonnar 35-70 3.4. I regretted selling my first copy and couldn't resist. Maybe I will try the Contax 80-200/4 to.

Yea, quick tests show it isn't bad, it just isn't close to the M, but still that's very early initial impressions. I'll put it through some similar scenes in the next week or two.
Love the 35-70. I don't always use it but it's output is great. I have the 80-200 as well but it's still in the shop due to a focusing problem, hope to get it back soon and compare it to the Canon FD L

I've been shooting with a vintage 1952 Summitar (50/2.0) collapsible LTM lens that was gifted to me a few years ago. Tri-X, so we're talking 'classic look' with this lens.

Ending a 3 year spell where I bought nothing photographic outside of ink, paper and frames, I bought 3 Mamiya M645 lenses- 120mm f/4 A macro, 150mm f/2.8 A, and 80mm f/2.8 N, so will have something to put on the front of a Fuji GFX 50s in case I lose my mind and click on one. I figure Mamiya adapters should show up pretty quick. Those plus the native 32-64/4 should get me by until adapters for Canon TS-E lenses become available (I hope).

I like your choice in M645 lenses.
OTOH, this is the second recent post that mentions an adapter for Canon TS-E lenses. I don't think this will work. The image circle of a Canon TS-E lens is certainly large enough to cover the 44mm x 33mm sensor in the GFX 50S, but I don't think the lens mount is wide enough to let all of the image circle pass through at the same time.

Yeah, I do wonder whether the shape of the projected cone from TS-E 17 and 24 and the diameter of the EF mount will play nice together to allow them to work even straight ahead, or if they do not, how much the corners will be chopped.
At least this will become clear before I would actually click on the Fuji, and the Mamiya 120mm macro and 150mm won't go to waste regardless of whether I retain sanity or do end up buying the Fuji . I'm still looking for other practical options, meaning good but not too expensive, not TOO alt. view camera type options, for wide to ultrawide on that camera.

I just got a Nikkor 500mm f4 p at a very good price (couldn't resist the temptation). I will be using on my 5D2 / 70D. It's the heaviest lens that I ever own. I think I need to upgrade my tripod for it.
