I have the Adapt-a-matic 105mm/2.5, Peire, acquired as a throw-in with a black Nikkormat FT-2 from a fellow who was not quite so camera savvy as he thought. I have pretty good reason now to believe it is a real sleeper: It's rumored to be something of Nikkor 105mm/f.2.5 (Gauss?) knockoff in design, but it is lighter and much more compact. There is an image shootout of circa 100mm's online and depending on what your priorities are, it might be said to be the "winner" over the likes of the sometimes touted Fujinon (older version). At first glance I regarded the Tamron Adapt-a-matic 200/3.5 lowly, but then I took it in my hands, had a look at it and finally, being pleasantly astonished by how solid and precise the built is,I tested it on the A7R.The results were very pleasing, especially for tele lens of the pre-computer-aided optical design. So I decided it to join my hoard.
Influenced by what I experienced, I followed some other Adapt-a-matics on the net.Your 105/2.5 is probably one of the series best.
