I find this to be true of many of the RF 135s. It's odd that some of the best lenses they were making were so difficult to use on RF. Good for us, though.

You can blame the Leica M with its integrated RF. The Barnacks with RF had a separate window for focussing with 1.5x magnification. The later models even had RF diopter adjustment. 135mm LTM is no biggie.

I've sort of had it with big lenses... these two had to pass my handful test

Thanks for the lesson, rico. I was not aware of that.

I've been on a fast 50ish bing lately. Using them on Sony mirrorless. I'm really enjoying getting back to manually focusing and using aperture rings, etc. - makes me feel more engaged. Most recent additions have been a Canon FL 55 f/1.2 for a great, can't say "no" price (a substantial, heavy chunk of glass, kinda love the aperture ring on the front of the lens), Nikkor 50 f/1.2 (nice size, nice image quality, terrific, smooth focus throw) and an MC Rokkor 58 f/1.2 (deserving of its reputation so far).

I'm excited to have a Canon FD 85L f/1.2 coming in
...Show more

I sold my FL 55/1.2 in the last few months simply because I was no longer using it enough and I had meanwhile bought a Minolta PG Rokkor 58/1.2. I decided one f1.2 was enough. Shame really because the FL55 was my 2nd ever alt lens.

My most recent is the C/Y (Zeiss) Vario-Sonnar 35-70 f3.4. Still to arrive.

Helios 40-2 85/1.5 and Jupiter 9 85/2. Both horrible, but wonderful at the same time.

For the most horrible of reasons I acquired my brother's collection of Minolta lenses he used first on his XG-M (at least a couple of them) and later on his A6000. He was alt before I was

I'm torn deciding which to keep - I love the 35-70, but it is redundant to my Vario-Sonnar 35-70. The 135 and 28-85 aren't especially nice, so they go. I have plenty of 50s, so it goes. The 24/2.8 is a sweet little lens. It and the 35-70 will stay, along with the memories of Matthew.

Canon nFD 500/8 mirror,replacement Canon nFD 100/4.0 Macro+dedicated ext. 1:1 tube,SMC Pentax M 200/4.They were so intact,so boxed ,that I couldn't resist.

My deepest sympathies for your loss, Benjamin. I hope the lenses help you hold on to his memory.

To complement my weighty Zeiss Distagon ZS 25mm/f.2.8, I have acquired the opposite in bulk factor, a very much like new late serial# ('n'-coated) Olympus OM 24mm/f.2.8... A Minolta Rokkor-X 24mm/f.2.8 arrived clean on the outside, blooming with fungus on the inside. Win one, lose one.

Arriving a few months back at low cost through an Adorama auction (only 1 other bidder) was a Vivitar (Komine) 55mm/f.2.8 macro lens, P-K mount, in pretty much LN condition. It joins an SMC Takumar 50mm/f.4 macro and an Auto-Nikkor aperture adjusting 55mm/f.3.5 micro (the version optically optimized at around 1:10). Focusing action on the Vivitar is just a bit heavy.

I have the Adapt-a-matic 105mm/2.5, Peire, acquired as a throw-in with a black Nikkormat FT-2 from a fellow who was not quite so camera savvy as he thought. I have pretty good reason now to believe it is a real sleeper: It's rumored to be something of Nikkor 105mm/f.2.5 (Gauss?) knockoff in design, but it is lighter and much more compact. There is an image shootout of circa 100mm's online and depending on what your priorities are, it might be said to be the "winner" over the likes of the sometimes touted Fujinon (older version). There's a glowing review at Pentax Forums, too.

I also have the Tamron Adapt-a-matic 300mm/f.5.6 which came in a bundle. As you note, these are extremely well made lenses.

At first glance I regarded the Tamron Adapt-a-matic 200/3.5 lowly, but then I took it in my hands, had a look at it and finally, being pleasantly astonished by how solid and precise the built is,I tested it on the A7R.The results were very pleasing, especially for tele lens of the pre-computer-aided optical design. So I decided it to join my hoard.

Influenced by what I experienced, I followed some other Adapt-a-matics on the net.Your 105/2.5 is probably one of the series best.

I like Distagon 25/2.8 ZF,especially for it's infinity and close up performance, but yes, bigger lenses, like 11 "Z" series Zeisses that I have, are sitting on the desk for most of the time

Olympus 24/2.8 is one of my favourites.Having two copies and struggling to avoid buying more,I prefer it over 24/2.0 OM Zuiko from my hoard.

Latest news:according to the brief standard tests of mine,Canon nFD 500/8 mirror is slightly sharper, contrastier and has a bit better colour saturation compared to Rokkor Reflex 500/8.I also like Canon's built in lens hood and rotating tripod collar, especially it's elegant silver release buton.

This has become one of my favorite lenses on my Kipon M42 to Sony E tilt-shift adapter. Not much room in the IC for shifting, but the tilt combined with the extreme close focusing of the lens is a very fun and useful combination.
