Fly -- Nice score! Anxious to see what your pictures are like.
I just closed an ebay auction for a Contax Zeiss 50/1.4 T* Planar for $270, which seems a pretty good price, especially compared to the $600 for a ZE that I couldn't focus properly. Serial # is 6434357 -- I don't know if Zeiss is religiously observant of numbers, but I've seen some 50/1.4 T* in the 600xxxx range. Is this a newer lens? Is there a serial number chart somewhere, like there is for Nikon?
Overall the lens looks nice, but statement says "Lens and diaphragm are clean, but focus ring is a little tight and hangs up a little" -- perhaps that will smooth out with use. I ordered a Hong Kong EOS adapter with the focus confirm/exif chip -- we'll see! And ordered a HK metal screw-in hood.

45s Carsten, I wanted rear shift, tilt and swing. To my knowledge this is the smallest Ebony 4x5 model to allow those movements in any reasonable fashion.
Jim, They are indeed, they hold 2 images per card as uncompressed 48-bit TIFF files with a resolution of ~4800dpi, so they have a capacity of about 10GB each not bad considering how old the technology is.
I must say, the mechanical excellence (and smell!) surpasses even Leica

Yes very nice, for a second I was thinking "Sony made a LF camera"
Re. my Nikkor 28 & flair, I checked for that when I was picking it up and it was not that strong, actually quite resistant, I'll have to actually take it on a walk to see what she can do, as I have been playing with the 20mm.
