I couldn't resist the Zeiss Otus 55mm f:1.4. I hate heavy lenses, and even more so when they are expensive, so I thought I could try it out, there was no way I could love that thing, let alone lust for it. But the flesh is weak...

Congrats! Look forward to your images with it! Such a sharp APO lens and is sharp wide open too.I love that lens.
Thanks, Wayne. I am psyched. The purge, which was only meant to cover a Cambo Actus (also on order) and a couple of trips this summer, was much more successful that I thought it would be, so I was able to add a short road trip in the fall and what I'm hoping will be a great travel companion.

Reunited again I ran into this and just couldn't pass it up. Different copy, same great performance, even now on my A7r: Looks like I won't be going batty over some of the latest lens releases. Some of the old Zuiko's are just that good. I gave it a little old school treatment:

Looking good PDM. I'm planning to swap some of my lenses for the 100 f2 Zuiko this September. Have to wait until I can meet the other fellow in person as customs would charge us (eu <-> switzerland) both ways if we did the exchange via post.
What's that eyecup you have on your A7r there ? Looks like something I could use as well.

Great to hear you have one in line. They are getting hard to find in good condition, and pricey, but the lens is a real treat on the A7r. I purchased the eyecup from a US seller on ebay, but maybe you can find the same from an EU seller:

I too just bought a Minolta 35-70 3.5 macro. I had a hard time finding one in the US, so I bought one on eBay from the Netherlands, so it won't be here for a week or two. Excited to try it out.

Anyone know if there's much difference optically between the Minolra 35-70 macro and non-macro versions? I managed to buy the latter.
The minimum focus distance will be the biggest difference at ~1m for the non macro.

Well,
I made it 5.5 months into my no lens year.
Ended up with the pentax 90mm and 55mm in fa645 with a 645z as rear cap.
They are lovely, even the 55mm which is proportedly a dog near wide open. Size and weight are good, dof is challenging even at f8. Just what I wanted.
I'm hoping I find a 300mm f4 in a Chinese camera market. Or not...

Maybe next year will be better. Though I doubt it.
Really though, for anyone considering this particular bit of kit. Yes it is heavy but not that much worse than the a900 tokina 80-400 combination that I've happily carried before. Way better than the nex7+fl300f2.8 fluorite that I carried for a while.
I'm still cursing the lack of evf every time I want to review an image in the sun.
I'm having to force myself to stay away from eBay.

I just saw this same setup in a park in Tokyo. What's the big win over the 90f2? I'd never seen a 100 in the flesh until today but I've seen a few 90f2s in shops.
Anyway this lens seems to inspire fanaticism, the one I saw today had a huge deep hood and looked to never be used off a tripod.

Just pressed the 'Buy now' button for a (quite rare) Pentax K 35mm f3.5 for EUR 50.
I was looking for that lens since a year and I hope it will meet my expectations....

I'm going to be selling my Fuji 14 as well. It's a brilliant lens, but I have the 10-24mm now, and it's really not cost effective to own both. I prefer the flexibility of the zoom and extra width over the slight improvement in image quality I get with the prime.
