Here is a crop of the triangular oof highlights from a shot taken wide open. They are actually still present many stops down as well.
Here's an example of the kind of rendering I associate with the 'Cron 35 wide open. I usually find the bokeh to be smooth and well controlled, but that may be because I'm not typically using the lens in "stress test" situations like the one you show (my copy of the lens would probably do the same; I'll have to check). I think the triangular shape doesn't necessarily create harsh bokeh; it's bright lines on the edge of the triangles (that some lenses do much worse). http://praetoriusphoto.images.s3.amazonaws.com/fmforums/20110509_cron35_portrait.jpg

Are you using the version 2 Summicron? Is that also the one you posted the MTF from? The first version I'm posting about is a completely different optical design and I'm guessing the later version may have better bokeh. The first version was only made for about five years and is relatively rare.

Oops, my mistake; I missed that in your original post (which asked if anyone had "experience with the last version of the 35mm Summicron R," which I took to mean the latest/v.2 even though you had stated "first version" at the beginning). My comments and picture are based on a v.2 "Leitz Wetzlar"/Germany pull-out hood serial number 3035*** copy.

Thats what I figured. Your post is very helpful though as it does show how the second version renders. I may end up keeping this lens because of the remarkable color/ contrast it offers. This shot is from a straight conversion, no pp at all, and reminds me very much of what a transparency/ slide film looks like. Not bad for F 2.8.

Just got an Autoreflex TC and a Hexanon AR 50 1.4 at the flea market over the weekend last week. The 50 is the f16 version with 1/2 stop clicks and a nice ling focus throw. We will see how it performs. May have to start a Hexanon Image Thread. The adapter for the GH1 arrived today. Rainbowimage, and built very very well. This is the 2nd adapter I have received from Amazon and Rainbowimage, and both have been much higher quality than I expected! I will get some photos up here when I get home today.

I was not sure, whether I should buy the Mark II, since there are rumors out about a successor at the end of this year. But I am leaving China for good in July and the prices here are too tempting. I have paid for the body just € 1.900,-- (CNY 18.300,--).

I’ve taken a walk to the Mamiya side! Purchased my first two Mamiya 645 lenses - a 120mm f/4 Macro A and the 35mm f/3.5 - mounted to a Fotodiox Pro Adapter.

You can't attach a ZE to a NEX, sebooh. It lacks any aperture ring (same with a ZF .2). However, there is a company purporting to work on designing a suitable adapter. Mooted price is US$ 700, which left me shaking my head. Also, attaching a 2lbs EF lens to my NEX when I own a 5D II does sound like a bit of an oxymoron

you can attach it just fine. you just need to set the aperture on an eos camera first and remove the lens while holding down the dof preview button. ZF doesn't have this problem, they have aperture rings just like nikon AIS lenses. i agree it is a silly lens for the NEX, but given the recent talk of what fast 35 ulrik should get for his NEX i thought it might be appropriate - the combo would probably be bigger than his d700 with sigmalux.

Bought to much gear the last months :-)
Zeiss (C/Y) 25mm/2.8; 50mm/1.4; 135mm/2.8 and 300mm/4 - have to test which of these lenses will stay, and which I have to handel carefull, not as a tool :-)
Zeiss Jena Flektogon 25mm/4 (Exakta) - great sharpness in close up work - need adapter to EF
Schneider Kreuznach Xenon 25mm/0.95 - don´t want to fall in love with it
Leitz Summaron 28mm/5.6 - wonderfull worked, heavy lens - best workmanship I have seen on lenses
Nikon CF-Plan 10x microscope lens - have to re-start macro work
Canon FD 24mm/1.4L for DIY conversion to EF mount. Price reduction to more bearable level because of fungus

My newest alt purchase is a Canon FD 135mm f/2, which will be here hopefully tomorrow. I'll be using it on my GH2 and GH1, so it'll be a medium-long telephoto with a fast aperture (DOF equivalent to a 270mm f/4) I'm excited.
