What are you shooting that one on? I've been eyeing that lens for a while but don't know it's reputation...
A quick test of the Contax Distagon 2,8/28 and Contax Distagon 2,8/25 (both AE) against the Elmarit-R 28mm vII on th Sony A7r, indoors at ca. 2,5m focus distance:
- The Elmarit has by a small margin the best sharpness across the frame, especially at the wider apertures. Very good allready wide open in the central 2/3 of the frame.
- The Distagon 2,8/28 i almost as good as or better than the Elmarit in the corners, but my copy shows much better performance on the left side (better than the Elmarit) than the right (worse than the Elmarit)...(The Distagon 25/2,8 does not behave this way on the same adapter.)
- The Distagon 2,8/25 clearly has the weakest corners wide open which improves by f/5,6 and catches up with the others by f/8.
The Elmarit has a little less CA than the Distagon 2,8/28, the Distagon 2,8/25 has the most.
Colours are very similar.
Distortion is very similar.
The Distagon 28/2,8 is slightly wider than the Elmarit.

Peaking definitely helps you get in the ball park, and after a good amount of time using it you can be quite accurate with it, the big difference come with the live view zoom in, AKA focus assist, then you can see where the plane of focus actually is, there is no error like in DSLR's, which have 3 paths for the image to travel(focus screen, AF sensor, and the image sensor), which all 3 must be the same distance from the lens, Mirrorless only have one sensor, so there is no chance of calibration errors.
I'm very happy with manual focus only on E mount, you may find you like it too.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Waiting on Canon FD 300L f/4 to clear customs in San Francisco. Loving the FD 35TS. At this point there is no focal length left uncovered - just a matter of fine tuning the lens stable for appropriate uses. To that end wondering what the most useful fast 50-55 would be - my Rokkor 58/1.2? Nikkor 50/1.2? Oly? Leica 50 Lux E55 is out of reach pricewise. I want tack sharp at f/2, no glow. FD's have mirror clearance issues on my 5DmkII, though it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the Rokkor.

You should get Pedro to sell you his ZE 50/2. That lens is very sharp wide open and fairly well corrected. The bokeh tends to be a little more structured than a typical fast 50, which is a plus or minus depending on taste. The Oly and Nikon 50/1.2's are both good lenses, but I'd say you'd have to love their wide-open look to justify the expense over a 50/1.4, and I personally feel the Rokkor's got a prettier wide-open draw than either of the others.

You should definitely keep the ZE50 and 135L.
My reasoning is: ZE 50MP and ZE 100MP have very similar draw (basically, the 50MP is a shorter 100MP) and I prefer the working distance of the longer lens [Edit: for macro/close-up work]; also, I don't appreciate the 50mm FL - to me it's neither fish nor meat, too long to be a good walk-around lens and too short for portraits. The 135L is my least used lens. I love it, but I seldom use it and I think I would give much more use to a telezoom.
I would keep them all (even the 100L can do things the ZE100 can't), but I need to buy other things and I don't have the necessary funds unless I sell some gear... But I'm not in a hurry.

Of these three (and the SMC Pentax 50/1.2), I think the Oly is best.
I also agree with Brad that the CZ MP 50/2 ZE is an excellent choice. It's my choice, along with the Canon 501/2.L.

Haha, am definitely avoiding that one. I've read the Nikon 35 2.8 AIS works pretty well, so might try that, but not rushing into it. 2.8 vs 5.6 is a pretty big bonus too
