Well, this is embarrassing, but I didn't know about CMoy amps until today, and I didn't spend enough time reading up on it to figure out why there are two jacks I didn't think that the input and output would be next to each other, figuring that one would be on the back. I guess I was wrong
I have wanted to pick up a headphone amp and a pair of Sennheiser HD600 headphones for some time now, but never got to the final stages of motivation to do the last bit of research on this. Part of the problem is that I suspect that I might have to rerip much of my collection to get the necessary quality for this not to be a waste of time. The conditions at work have changed enough that the thoughts are moving forwards again though (read: more noise than before), so maybe this is the right time to do it. This looks like a neat little amp, and I have a nice tin for it, so maybe I will attempt building one myself. I am decent with fine mechanics, so hopefully this translates well to diagram reading and soldering. I would have to pick up a bunch of tools though, and this isn't such a great time for that in my life. Too little space, too little money

not at all, changing speakers/headphones is the most noticeable thing you can do. even 128 mp3s contain highs and lows that lower grade transducers will have trouble with.

Very understandable. The idea is to have it in your pocket next to your MP3 player or similar. Then it is convenient having both in- and out-going cables in one direction. You would need to add a DC-input of some sorts if intended to use it at work as you would have to exchange the batteries like once a day, or every second day perhaps.
OK, enough OT I think. Next time I might ad an image of old amplifier constructions
