Sebboh, where do you find Pen F lenses? I was checking around and haven't been able to find many, excepting a few overpriced copies on ebay.
i got my 42/1.2 over on the dpi buy sell forum and the 38/1.8 off ebay. they seem to come up on real auctions on the bay periodically even though most of the ones you find in a search are super overpriced buy it now ones from that gokevin dude.

thanks, I will watch out for the gokevin dude. The 38 looks like fun.

I think you were being ....um.....optimistic.... thinking that you would not catch flack for making this statement anywhere on this forum.
Actually, that's exactly what I said. I had the money more the 28 Cron or the 50 Lux and I have been happy with the choice. The 50 Cron just does what i want right out of the box. I should use it more often.

Heh. We may be kindred spirits on this - the 50 Cron has loads of character next to the Lux, but we'd be pilloried for making such a statement in another parts of this forum. It's too bad I can't keep the character and get another stop.
The 50 Cron is also wonderful on the NEX, though f/2 doesn't seem quite so fast on this sensor.
It's an interesting furor, hehe. I have a 50 cron, latest. Sharp mid distance, but the nikkor 55 really hurts it bad for long intinity (to my surprise). As to character, I find it very modern and prone to sometimes over obvious 3D---a CV 35/2.5 on steroids.
I gave up a 1985 50 summilux for the lens, and now regret that.
However it may be that I just need some education. These sort of controversial debates are tedious--UNLESS there are some links to images with some commenttary on what you or the other side think they show. Then it's helpful to all--and we can make up our own mind with some data.

The Character of the 50 Cron is as you describe it, very modern just like the 35/2.5 Skopar (another lens which I'm very fond of). Character doesn't necessarily mean classic rendering but rather is what the lens itself adds to the image.

So Please;
50 cron character: WHERE? Show me, please!
Lux 50 to die for? Show us links!!!
some shots with the lux and one from our own nate venture (twok). haven't really looked at shots from it on the NEX.
I realize, after using the nex for a while, that what I _really_ really want, is a high quality, fast, manual focus 25mm or similar and a high quality fast 50-ish (equivalents for 35 and 85-ish) maybe with a CV 12 or 15 added on for some wide angle fun.
I'm currently using my nikkor 24/2, and stopped down it has more than enough punch, but it does not work well with subject isolation and it is not very contrasty wide open at all.. I do use my 35/1.2 VII and I do love it, but I realize that I somehow like the 35ekvivalent better than the 50ekvivalent on the nex.
^ Then you're looking for the Lux 24, FD or FDn 24L, or ZA 24... or the stop gap that a few people seem to be liking... Cron 28.
I have given up this battle for now and I'm focusing on a good 35, and a fast 40-50. Until Sigma or someone else wakes up and turns out a few fast wide primes I'm done pulling my hair out over it

That's interesting. Most reports that I've seen show the 15 having more vignetting/color shift, but better resolution at the edges than the 12.
I set up a test to verify it, hence my late reply. I have problems trying to find differences in resolution… But for some reason I prefer the images from the 12… And, as I said on my first post, there's no colouring on neither on the 5N. I also seem to have a decentered 15, because one edge is much better than the other.

exactly---there was that car in the snow a while back which dropped my jaw. But we need to see more samples with the 50 ASPH on the nex
Yes, that shot made my eyes go 'pop!'... very neat rendering.
