^ - I do know that when I updated to a faster card it made all the difference in the world in terms of card write times, flipping through images, format time, etc. I found it strange because I've never noticed that the type/speed of the card made any difference in any of my dSLR's, but made a huge difference with the 5N.

do you have image review turned on? it shoots 10 fps if you want, so with image review off and drive mode set to speed priority it shouldn't stay blocked long unless you shoot a long burst.

Here's a question: should we turn off first curtain shutter when shooting 10 fps?

Just received my 5n, still trying to figure it out...a bit strange coming drom DSLRs...anyway, first thing I noticed was the long time it stays blocked from one shot to other...it came with a Transcend 16gb SDHC card, which I think is class 10 (there is a 10 written on it,so...). Is it this way or is it the card that it too slugish? Any recommendarions?

My transcend class ten is really slow compared to the Sandisk high speed I have. I've forgotten what Sandisk brands it but it's the lates speed.

For shooting 10 fps in Speed Priority Continuous mode it does not make a difference in speed regarding turning on or off the Electronic First Curtain.
Turning the EFC on in Continous Advance mode will make shooting a hair faster.
I leave it on all the time. You will have a faster response time and when shooting macro from tripod you will get sharper images. I tested this extensively. It makes less noise as well.

Douglas maybe the new Ricoh GXR A16M module is something for you. Coming beginning of 2012. Has that Nex 5n sensor but tweaked(?) and AA filter removed. Might be very interesting.

Herb, very kind of you to do all this for us. I'm thinking more on grabbing the 24. ZM might be a smidge sharper but AF and MFD could tilt that advantage.

How do you find sharpness @ f/2,.8 3-5 meters?

Jeff, I thought it came out fine..what'snot to like?

Andrew, lovely light on your first shot. All these 28 shots from the R, M and Contax G has "persuade" me to take the 5N only with my Z 28

oops, i got this shot mixed up with another. it's actually taken with the canon FL 55/1.2 and a sony a55, so it shouldn't be here my bad. same sensor as the NEX-5N though and you can certainly use the lens on a NEX a lot easier than on a a55.

FlyPenFly - Thanks very much! Even though the CV 35 1.2 is, well, not tiny, I like leaving it on my camera.

Snowboarder - really beautiful first shot with the Leica 28mm R.

Herb - I appreciate all the hard work comparing the Sony/Zeiss 24 & Zeiss 25. This info is very helpful to me.

Sebboh - Your image is excellent, even if it is in the wrong thread!

Jeff - I'm sure you had to do a lot of work on the San Francisco image, but I think it is fantastic, and it is doubly amazing that you captured it so spontaneously.

this lens not only has a distinctive great look, but it's sharp wide open
and has absolutely no CA. And it's my smallest lens...

Thanks for the encouragement. I always have a difficult time with the white balance on scenes that include both large sunny areas and large areas in shade. The color of the brides skin doesn't look natural to me (I'm looking at a larger image) and couldn't get the skin color, dress color and color of the background bridge and sky to all look right to my eye.

Thank you. Focus peaking is amazing! It's not 100%, but it allows you to get shots you would never otherwise get with an MF lens.

Here is one boring image:
http://photos.imageevent.com/jonas_b/objektivpres/nexand5x35mmlenses/5x35_cityscape_overview.jpg

What gives? I brought my Nex-5N, not less but five 35mm lenses and a tripod to the top of a small hill. That gave me a view of a part of Gothenburg, Sweden. The weather was mainly overcast with the sun sparsely giving some light to the scene.

I fired away and as the results give some perspective to the lens testing taking place here of lately I decided to post some crops.

Here is the first one, and smallest as I have one 35/1.2 lens only:
http://photos.imageevent.com/jonas_b/objektivpres/nexand5x35mmlenses/5x35_cityscape_f1.2_center_crop.jpg

The crops are badly thought out as I misunderstood the map and in the end I had only a dark and murky building in the focus plane at the right side. I sharpened the crops until they looked fine and then I sharpened them once again. All that to ensure there are reasons to bash me. I really liked Philippe's disclaimer the other day but decided to take another approach. Please feel free to complain.

If you want to see the f/2 and f/5.6 crops from these lenses you can visit this gallery.

Involved lenses:
Cosina Voigtländer 35/1.2 v2
Leica Summilux-M 35/1.4 ASPH pre-FLE
Zeiss ZM Biogon 35/2.0
SMC-P FA 31/1.8 Limited
SMC-P FA 20-35/4

The result was partly surprising (to me that is). As a test like this is far from perfect I was hoping for some clues and Indeed, I got that. Comments are welcome.
