The problem with your suggestion is that as far as I know the other available solutions (that i've actually seen) DO NOT come ready to use. Anyone who has Paddy and can honestly say they spent less than 4 hours getting it just PERFECT and is really taking advantage of what RPG offers is probably lying to you. Some peeps might find a savings of 4 hours, not having to remember which freggin' key does what (the RPG ones are labeled) and an actual SUPPORT PERSON who will skype with you if needed to have some value.
Others don't.
If I were much busier than I am, if I didn't have the IT background that I do and if I hadn't played with autohotkey for years as i have I would be able to totally justify the expenditure.
Heck.. not to get me really flamebroiled or anything... but let's be honest here...
Many of the folks on this board could save A HECK OF A LOT MORE than $430 (The software cost of the RPG solution.. $170 is retail for the keyboard) if they used Windows 7 instead of Macs. and guess what? If you're computer savvy enough to think of the RPG turnkey solution and paddy+Logitech G13 as totally interchangeable ... odds are you're savvy enough to use Windows 7 SAFELY enough that you're really not getting any benefit from that huge premium Apple commands.
Disagree all day long if you want, but let's put it this way... the Core i7 Windows 7 Ultimate workstation I am currently using, aside from a SSD upgrade I made cost me LESS than the price of RPG... compare that to the 3K+ some of you peeps dropped on powermacs.
Geez dude. Get away from the keyboard for a couple of days. You seriously need a break. You're just arguing anything now... including Mac vs PC. Now, YOU'RE the one talking about how people spend their money.
There's no problem with my suggestion, other than saving a boatload of cash. Get over it already.

No more no less. I can't imagine there would be a disagreement with the above. There are many things that are signficantly easier with MAC. In fact for the most part stuff is either not possible (nobody's written the software for it) on the Mac or it's easier/better. But there IS a premium and it's significant. That's all.

FACT - if money were no object I would totally own a completely tricked out POWERMAC. I would probably also have a tricked out Windows7 box... for the software not available on the MAC, but I'd love to be surrounded by all that Apple deliciousness.

I hesitantly resurrect this thread but I really would like to know how Jeff (mosier) liked the RPG Keys 30 day trial.
Also, if anyone has used the ControllerMate software to DIY, how did it work out and is the slider programming resolution dependent like it is with QuickKeys?
Ah, I guess I never did write a response about the Keys. They are still sitting on my desk and used daily. I've reprogrammed certain keys to run differently, but I'm very very happy with them overall. I've definitely cut my editing time down pretty significantly. I bought these with LR as the main program they'd be used on. I'm going to start dabbling with PS and InDesign over the next few weeks and have already programmed them for use with Photomechanic. I'm not sure how the new DQ system is, but I would not give these back now.
