Having problems with this lens and my D-200. I have used this lens mostly on my D3 and it works fine (except for relearning the nuances of manual focus at 1.4). However, I'm having difficulty using it on the D200. I entered the lens in the non cpu menu and obviously shooting in the manual mode.
Cannot get a sharp image to save my life. Anyone else had this issue on the D200 with this lens?
Hi Richard.
I have no problems using the Rokinon 85MM F1.4 on my D-200, i can get an outstanding sharp image, even at F1.4, look at my post. I have not tried it on the D-300 body as much- but it worked perfect in normal focus and live view. Iam puxxeled by your problem with sharpness. In general, i feel my D-300 takes sharper images, by a slight bit, than my D-200. But ive been well satisfied with the Rokinon images on the D-200 body, many seem to have a 3D look/quality.

Harry:
Thanks for the feedback. I'm puzzled as well. As I said, I've used it on the D3 and had excellent results. It is a bear to get used to wide open but when it's on, it's beautiful. It is unusable on the D200.

could it be that your focus screen is misaligned or the diopter is off on the d200? are you able to get better results manual focusing with any other f/1.4 lenses on the d200?
Just got mine yesterday - a Nikon chipped Rok from B&H. I'll post some images once I put it through some paces -- I'm very impressed with it so far. I'm curious if the Nikon chipped version will transfer exif data correctly - the camera clearly recognized it as a f1.4-f22 lens, and the electronic rangefinder (D700) is extremely accurate.
Shot a couple weddings last weekend in a semi-official capacity and used the 85/1.4 for reception shots at the second. Basically all wide open on the D700 in very, very low light:
Well, I have to say I did miss quite a few too, but I was really surprised with how many keepers I got. Just a testament to the VF and focus confirmation system of the D700, I guess. (And the auto-ISO, too.)
mirkoc, I used LR3 to process the RAWs. Most of these had a .4-.8EV boost, some fill light, some extra blacks, and some negative saturation, as well as sharpening. Some had split toning as well.
edit: oh, and this was with the first (non-chipped) version.
