Hi Gregory NikkorAIS,
as i early asked (18sept2010 @ second page of the topic), i still waiting for an astro test wide open, to see vignetting and coma. Few seconds exposure @ high ISO is sufficient, keeping in mind to not produce star trails.
Currently, also my local astro community is curious about astro behaviour of this lens.
Thanks in advance.
Sunblack, I havnt forgot about you . It''s been -26 during the day at night it's been snowing and /overcast at night. I am working two jobs and have migraine that feels like an ice pick behind my right eye. You know what I'll get right out there and use my Jedi skills to clear the night sky and get some stars for ya. Sorry the migraine pills are making me a little cheeky. Check out the Nikkor 28 1.4 AF-D thread in the mean time.
It is interesting not to long ago I was thinking about getting one of those worm drives to help keep the lens on track. Have you got any experience with one those?
Obviously, my further reminder had to be considered if only out was a clear night; i didnt see your weather forecast before posting, sorry, since i dont know where u live too.
Just, as u wrote, dont forget me.
Gregory, I've already fallen in love with Your thread at the nikoncafe, but these pictures here @ FM are just kicking me away! Some abolutely awesome shots by this beast!
Do You know how many copies oft the 300 f/2 have been assembled?
Hi Charlie, I hear that there where 401 Nikkor 300 2.0 IF-ED AIS made. It's a little unlcear about the camera quest versions. I am not sure if those are part of the 401 or if they made extra for them.
Nikkor 300 2.0 IF-ED AIS on Nikon D3 some with TC-14C all hand held.
Thanks JB, I got new coming with this lens that is quite interesing, As far as the astro test there is no sky in alberta right now . Or rather it's snowing heavily or over cast at night. I missed the huge moon. Totally overtcast. Rats. This has been the most brutal cold winter I can remember. Even when the sun breaks throught in the day, it's still cold.
I couldnt sleep last night and went out on my patio and saw some stars and than felt bad as to not getting this simple test done sooner.
I mean how hard can it be point your lens to the night sky and sqeeze one off .
I did want to get a shot without the light polution. Tonight if the night is clear I will take a little drive and get some "more better shots" in the dark at the night.
One question for Sun Black, so far, are you seeing any coma? I am not, but perhaps the next set will be more telling.
