I have always enjoyed your posts, and really think this lens deserves a owner like you. While there are many who could afford a lens of this caliper, most would not use it like you do. This is a lens that was made to be used, and it produces some excellent images in a very capable photogs hands. Very nice work, I am always impressed.
GREAT shots in this thread, guys! The only 300/2 AIs that I've ever encountered was in *rough* condition, and had been abused by cinematographers for about 20 years, not to mention that it was converted to Arri PL mount, so it was useless for what I wanted to do with it: take stills. That said, it was and it remains an AWESOME lens for shooting 35mm Academy-format motion picture film with. NOTHING beats it for subject isolation. Nothing.
Now THAT is what I call putting this lens to good use!! (To hell with the animal photos.)
On a serious note, all your photos with this lens are spectacular. You are obviously a very talented photographer that knows how to get the best from this lens. Very well done.
Thank you very much Pass the Gravey. I really enjoyed shooting this event.
Im going to start shooting more commerial events and sports with Nikkor 300 2.0 IF-ED AIS in the near future.
I had the oppurtuntity to photograph some wheel chair hockey today. These are only a couple from the first game and the best are yet to come as my card is with a pal who son is one of the participants. These player are super competive and there was plenty of contact, intensity and emotion.
Some of the guys are very limited in there mobility and use there mouths to manuver there chairs to stick handle, pass and shoot. Absolutly incredible. I dont even know what to say. While others have more use of the limbs and move and shoot with power and grace.
In truth the Nikkor 300 2.0 was a little tight but I left my 80-200 2.8 AIS at home this morning thinking I was mostly going to do landscapes When I got the call to shoot this game.
Anyways, When I get the rest of the images back from my pal tomoorow I will post the best one in another post.
Thanks you guys, I missed your comments. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
