Please label appropriately in the future so people like me don't get fired for looking at pictures that would give the wrong impression at work. That's always been the policy, and it seems to me that people are forgetting this a lot lately.

Benj

p.s. If curious, appropriate label would be "Roller Girl: NSFW"

There is a serious lack of testicular volume in this thread. Kudos to XpLoiT, for the nice photos (more bokeh would help her pop even more), and for allowing the whiners, prudes, envious, etc. etc. etc. to out themselves.

MCLMM - Your immaturity and lack of professional courtesy is showing. Your fly might be down as well. I'm not sure what you do for a living...or if you even have a job. Perhaps you work at home editing photos in your underwear enjoying roller girl esque photos. Either way, it's a policy in this thread as it is a professional courtesy to properly label the posts so that people like me (who work in a professional work environment) won't get fired because of misunderstanding that would occur with other people in the office.

If you'd ever had a job outside of your basement sitting in your underwear, then you'd appreciate what I'm saying a little more and realize that this isn't about being a prude, but it's about being professional. I have no problem with the photo or the fact that it was posted. I just think that it would be nice if people would extend the professional courtesy of properly labeling their posts so as not to cause issues for other members of this community.

Perhaps you forgot that this is a community and we all interact together. Perhaps you're so self centered that you only consider your circumstances and your needs and forget that there are other people in the world who have a different work environment than you do.

Benj:

If your workplace frowns upon these kinds of shots, you should consider taking control of your own destiny and not visiting the forum at work. Why trust someone else to judge accurately what you or your company or coworkers feel is NSFW? Also, how do you think the company feels about your visiting a forum where 20% of the threads have "NSFW" plastered on them?

Trusting your employment future to the judgment of some dude with a hot friend, neither of whom sees anything wrong with shots of a girl in a bikini, is playing with fire.

bigbee - Thanks for your concern about my destiny and all, but perhaps you should be more concerned with the policies and professional courtesy that are already in place. Do you think it's an accident or a coincidence that 20% of the threads are posted as NSFW?

As for taking control of my destiny...does that mean working from home so I can edit photos in my underwear as well?

You may have missed my last bit where I talked about this forum as being part of a community. A community of many different people, ages, gender, nationality, etc. We all come here and for years have gotten on fine. Occasionally, there'd be the random person who lacked professional courtesy and would forget to post NSFW on their post, but a simple reminder from another member, and we were back where we should be.

But there seems to be an influx of people to this community who lack this professional courtesy and think that they are the only people who's needs and feelings should be considered.

Labeling a photo as NSFW goes a long way in helping people like me avoid trouble at work. Just so you know, my participation in this forum (a professional photography forum) is 100% sanctioned. And the proper labeling of NSFW photos will keep that possible.

I can understand someone forgetting because they were in a hurry. I just can't understand the likes of you and MCLMM who are so narrow minded and self absorbed that you don't care about anyone's situation but your own...enough to where you mock and criticize those of us trying to maintain professionalism in this forum so that it doesn't go to pot.

As for trusting people in this forum, I have to say that it hasn't been a problem until lately...because of people like you who lack the professional courtesty to think outside your own basement studio.

Benj

p.s. there is a big difference between something being wrong and something not being safe for work.

FOr example...there's nothing wrong with someone making out with their girlfriend...but there is something wrong with someone making out with their girlfriend at work. Also, there's nothing wrong with someone taking a shower...but taking a shower in your office would cause some problems. Swearing in some places would be just fine, but swearing in your office just doesn't say "I'm a professional employee"

You mention that there are 20% of the threads labeled NSFW. Well...that means that 80% (the majority) are safe for work. Those are the reasons I come to this forum. I don't really see the big problem is with labeling photos that might be considered NSFW. It doesn't take a moral judge...just some basic common sense...but based on yours and MCLMM's comments, I'm discovering that it's not as common as previously thought.

Heck...you should be happy for the label of NSFW...it would make trolling for that kind of material easier to find while you are sitting at home in your underwear editing photos.

Benj, thanks for the heart-felt response, fella. I am elated that you have taken so much of your valuable time to respond to my statement.

I wonder, what was it about the thread title "ROLLER GIRL" that just sucked you in, while at work, and then left you feeling shocked when a picture of a female wearing roller-skates popped up?

I must also ask, what does your employer find so particularly professional about an employee that has as much time as you apparently do to post such nonsensical masterpieces while on the clock?

PS this message was posted on my ipad, from the washroom at work.

I'm a photographer, and part of my professional development is my interaction and participation in this forum. As part of my daily morning routine, I click on every photo that is new (minus the images that are labeled NSFW). I have to wonder if you're projecting with your attempts to insinuate that I was lured in by the "Roller Girl" title. Sorry to burst your bubble, but some people are here for other reasons than trolling for pics of hot chicks.

Benj

p.s. Roller Girl (in my mind) doesn't conjure up sexy bikini clad roller skate girls. It could be a number of other images, and since it wasn't labeled with NSFW, I had no reason to assume that it was an image that could potentially get me in trouble. It could very easily have been a more tame version of a roller skating waitress, it could have been someone's child in roller skates. It could have been a roller derby player. The point is that my guard was down because it was not labeled correctly. Perhaps you have a little too much testicular volume and it's causing you to be more limited in your thinking and narrow minded.

Threads that are not work safe should be labeled. It's a common courtesy. It may have just been a memory lapse because he was probably excited to post the photos.

But, reading the title I knew what the subject would most likely be. Maybe not as revealing but I knew it would be a sexy girl in roller skates. Only a little part of me thought it would be tame maybe a little girl or something but I knew what it would be.

The image is good, composition and lighting are good on the subject (Agree with the hot spot comment above). The problem is the background. It's too... bland? I would prefer to see her on the Venice beach skate path, with a lifeguard tower in the background, out of focus, and the ocean on one side. But technically, I like the shot.

Also, try having her keep her mouth slightly closed more. More of a playful/serious look... Just some of my thoughts...

Benj:

First of all, you are the scold who jumped in this thread and complained that you might be fired because someone else didn't share your (or your boss's) judgment that it was not safe to view these pictures at your place of work. I simply pointed out that you might want to reconsider the concept of relying on the judgment of others if your job is truly at stake and you are not just being dramatic.

I understand entirely the concept of classifying posts as NSFW in response to the sensitivity that HR departments, managers, and co-workers have for this material. I at no point mocked you or criticized you or contended that this thread should or should not be labeled NSFW. I simply tried to give you some friendly advice. In response, you chose to invent positions for me and to fantasize about me in my underwear.

So, let me try this again in case I haven't been clear:

Be an adult and own your own choices. If clicking on posts of girls in bikinis risks your livelihood, and you chose to click on a post titled "Roller Girl" on a photography forum, then you are a huge idiot or you made a mistake. Learn your lesson and develop a plan, because all of these newcomers that you despise so much will inevitably fail to meet your specific definition of professionalism again and again.

Or, don't, and risk losing your job. I don't really care, and your behavior and attitude indicate that you don't really care either.

Don't feed the trolls, people. If you want to discuss morality and portrayal of women, start a new thread.

I like the images! Thanks for posting, Xploit.

I thought it was going to be a roller derby tattooed girl, hehe

regardless, #3, I think you should soften those lines/ wrinkles on her left cheek. It was distracting her overall face.

Both sides in the "NSFW" debate are right to a certain extent.

Putting those tags on threads is a simple courtesy that doesn't cost the thread poster anything, and there's no reason not to do it.

On the other hand, the expectation on the part of some on this forum that everyone else has the obligation to help them surf the web "safely" while working is asinine.
