My wife, son and I were all working from home today.
At one point it sounded like a call center.
UK schools are set to close by Friday and the end of school year exams (May / June) cancelled. So the internet backbone is about to be hammered as all those school kids stream movies, games, and Youtube crap instead of reading text books and doing course work.
It's going to be an interesting few months for all of us.

Being that a lot of us are stuck at home, the internet is crucial. Hope your's keeps up.
Just like old times when both Leighton and Reagan show up on the same page... even if I'm the butt of the joke...
I was excited to see a video that reported Target has designated Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. as time for at risk populations to shop in the store after its been stocked. I'm not in crisis but seeing so many empty shelves in stores I thought I'd buy ONE package of toilet paper. California says shelter in place for three weeks but now I'm reading about suggestions we need to shut things down for 12 to 18 MONTHS!!!
I arrived at Target at nine this morning to find it was already open and when I got to the back of the store shelves were bare. I was able to get a package of paper towels and a package of toilet paper but only the high priced spread was available. I think I'll let go of Target and simply shop closer to home. The number of cars parked in the nearby Home Depot suggested many folks are out and about working. In fact, I hear the chainsaw cutting down a nearby tree as I write this.
As a person who is retired I have regular income, which though modest, allows me to live a comfortable life. I've no idea how folks without regular income are going to weather this pandemic. Of course, there will still be stores open so clerks, persons stocking shelves, truck drivers delivering good and folks at warehouses loading those trucks will be getting paychecks. And I hope someone will be processing food that shows up in cans or raw on a table, or we could all be in for a world of hurt.
Thank heavens for the internet. Tomorrow evening I'll attend a 12 Step meetings on a video app called Zoom. My conversations with Sue are always on Apple's FaceTime. I talk with Rinie in the Netherlands on Skype. And my browser lets me check in with my photographer friends on Fred Miranda. Sorry for the dislocation some of your are experiencing, but I'm glad you showed up here to share a bit of humor and enjoy what these wonderful lenses can produce. Good to see everyone! Stay healthy my friends. Because I've volunteered working with folks at the end of their lives for the last 22 years, I have NO illusions about what this disease might do to me and my loved ones... so definitely take the time to appreciate those in your life who matter to you. There are few guarantees on this human journey and immortal life is NOT one of them.
Leighton as I posted yesterday my daughter moved to Crozet and we’re planning to visit in May. She loves natural foods so thinking you may have made a customer. So. May 30th is the day I’ll stop in Staunton and George and Samy seem to be in the loop. Good to see you back !

My ears starting itching so I knew you all were talking about me. So, I thought I'd better stop in to say hey.
Good to see the thread still rolling along and to see most of the usual faces, including that old guy out West!
Been busy around here trying to get the farmers' market up and running, only to find out the other day that we had to postpone opening day. At this time, we have NO idea when we'll be opening.
Anyway, here's the last image I shot from a month ago with 55mm f2.8 on the Fuji.

Going to move my son out of college tomorrow. He has been home the last week, but got the final word that the semester is done. All online. Our cul-de-sac will now have 7 college students online, 9 elementary/middle school students and 18 adults working from home. Will definitely be a test of the internet pipe to our neighborhood. And that is just in one small street.

Conference lines are overwhelmed. Too many people participating in meetings from home.
If you use VPN to access your company's intranet then the number of VPN licences and internal bandwidth will also be a limiting factor. Where I work the IT infrastructure was tripled in those areas to cater for the heavier usage. So far it seems to be working.

Ken, message me before you come, I'm not sure the market will even be open.
