Buddy did such a good job of showcasing the 55mm 1.2, I will not need to.
Here is one perfect lens people ignore, the 400mm 3.5. It is near perfect by itself, highly recommended with the TC 301 and excellent with the TC14 and TC16.. By itself I can hand hold it with daylight.
Impressive, specially the moon shot since I am familiar with how the moon renders in clear stable skies with specialized APO telescopes. I am wondering if your results were helped by removal of false edge color with software (i.e. the green border). I am not sure my Sony 100-400 GM at 400 can do that but then again I live too close to the ocean for stable skies.
The 400 3.5 seemed to be 'the' lens to have if you were into wildlife photography back in the '80's. I lusted for one for a long time but never made it happen; have been thinking about changing that though. Thanks for showing that Rafael!

Awesome!
The Nikon aberration correction may have corrected the moon edge too. There is a little green left. Nothing done on purpose.
The results from that 400mm look the way I expected the 300mm f2,8 Ai-S IF ED images to look. Crisp and sharp.
I was a bit disapointed by the first results, but found that a hood extension fixes that issue, so now I'm using the lens with a hood extension all of the time.

Rafael the raptors are fantastic, including the intensity of the hawk's eye! And the 2240mm rendition of the moon is something else! Great examples with the 400 3.5!
I see you are holding on to the snow, glad to see that Scott! Great composition, I like the lonely bench behind the tree, its got a long wait for someone to come warm it.

Nothing wrong with getting software to help with post-processing. Very nice results from a classic lens. I'll keep an eye out for one of these
Need to warn you that with more than one teleconverter vibration kills most shots.

Rafael, superb samples. Agreed 100%, this tele appears to be made for the TC301!
More compact than the 800/5.6, though a little bit slow (f/7).
Two samples:
Thats is what I call "Rafael's condition" for lenses - better than new or mint
By the way I had the opportunity to hold an used 15/3.5 ais at my hands in a shop at Padova, Italia - EUR 600 paying in cash; but did not bought it because:
1) not a Rafael condition lens - perhaps a 9 in BHphotovideo ratings;
2) no original front cap & rear filters ;
3) it is not the 15/5.6 QDC - the last one I need for my collection
Rafael, great photos plus one heck of a pristine lens collection. I regret not snagging the 16/3.5 long ago but was unaware of its capabilities back then.
Scott, great snow photos. Not much snow this year in my neck of the woods.
Thanks for the compliments, it has been many years and many hours looking for the lenses I own, I have regrets as well, one of them is not buying a 58mm 1.2 before the prices skyrocketed.
The 800mm 5.6 finally earned its keep, birds are scarce and scared here, finally one came to visit with excellent light. California is called the Golden state for a reason.
These lenses are best at closer distances, also the sun was hitting the front element with no noticeable adverse effect.
The Z6 must have VR off for the lens to work best. Focus on eye nailed with peaking highlights. Go check that eye at 100% on Flickr.
