Nice one, Sammy and Serge with the 28mm. The Fuji colours seem very natural.
Thanks, Siphiwe.
These are from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
Great pair, Gemini IV & Friendship 7: It was the first time I had seen the historical capsules in the flesh and it was an awesome treat. The exhibit can get crowded so had to be patient to take the photos.
Closer look at the Gemini IV which carried Ed White to the first American space walk.
Friendship 7 which carried John Glenn to America's first earth orbit. The astronauts from that era had some serious guts.
Great photos everyone, thank you for sharing your travels, very enjoyable for a homebody like me . Although we have not met in person, seeing through your eyes is a great experience.
Thank for encouraging my processing explorations Ken, I have long suspected your monitor to be high quality with great dynamic range that displays what for others looks over saturated, or maybe your glasses are a little scratched!
A visit to the old trolley depot, can't get in, these are live view focused over the fence with the ED AIS 180mm 2.8, a nearly perfect lens.
I am home with nothing to do . here is my collection of MF 'superwides'
The 18mm 5.6 made this collection complete. I bought a 10mm 5.6 OP once but the lens inside was separated, f you have a 13mm 5.6 to donate send it in.

Then there is the 55mm 1.2 which is one imperfect lens!
.
It makes very imperfect photos at 1.2
Exquisite collection there, Rafael. Since you have both the 55mm f/1.2, I have seen them at an online shop here for the same price(i.e. Nikkor-SC and the Nipon Kogaku). In your opinion, what are the differences worth noting between the two besides the NK being pre-AI. And what if there's a 50mm AI-S f/1.2 thrown in the mix. Thanks.

For the same price and condition the S.C is better due to multilayer coatings. If the S.C was dusty or scratched I would not hesitate to go with any other variant. I do not like the rendition of the 50mm 1.2 at 1.2. Sharper at 2.0 and up. Prefer the focusing smoothness and look of the scalloped 55mm to those of the 50mm.
Rafael, definitely makes the heart flutter (hopefully not too much ) looking at your specimens. The 55 is definitely the pick of the vintage normal FL F-mounts.

Between the Nikkor-S and the Nikkor-S.C the sample variation within the range is most likely making more of an impact then the difference caused by the multicoating vs. single coating.
Both Nikkor-S and Nikkor-S.C are pre-Ai. Nikkor-S.C can be found with a factory Ai conversion.
Actually, between the first Nikkor-S and the last Nikkor-S.C four changes were made in the optical configuration, making for 5 different versions in those two ranges. Then there is the K Nikkor, which has a rubber grip instead of the scallops, but is still pre-Ai, and the 55 f1,2 Ai.
Personally I own a Nikkor-S.C version of this lens, which had an overhaul and some slight modifications done. But I would really not hesitate to pick up any of the different versions.
One minor benefit of the K and Ai versions is the MFD of 0.5 meters versus 0.6 meters on the Nikkor-S and Nikkor-S.C
One minor benefit of the Nikkor-S and Nikkor-S.C versus the K and Ai versions is a focus throw of 190 degrees versus 230 degrees on the K and Ai.
Neither of those would be a dealbreaker to me if an oportunity came up.
Dragging one of my favorite 55mm f1,2 photos up from the depths of my Flickr account to create some GAS:
One of the very first photos I took with my D3 and the 55mm f1,2 Nikkor-S.C, wide open
One of the last few photos I took with the D3 and the 55mm f1,2 Nikkor-S.C, wide open
On Kristinas D800, but still the same 55mm f1,2 Nikkor-S.C, wide open
Today I left the 55mm f1,2 at home... and regretted that decision many times over

Thank you very much, Rafael. That is very helpful. In this case it looks like the SC falls slightly(only slightly) short of the Rafael spec whereas the Nipon Kogaku looks mint.

Buddy, you succeeded and thank you for the input. That first picture excited me. The Nikkor-S C looks like it did have a conversion done.
