Steve, good find of flowers in winter with the Nikon on Nikon on bone gear Congrats on the latest NMFAS. Will have to hop over to the sister thread to see any 300 2.8 VR samples you post. I tried the 200-500 at a soccer game yesterday. Didn't work so good at f/5.6, definitely better at f/7.1 or so. Or I still don't have a clue about shooting AF with a telephoto. Anyway fodder for the other thread.
Well Steve you are not alone. Always wanted the 70-200 F2.8 VR but never wanted to spend the money, when new or even used when the VR2 was introduced. So minding my own business I saw a new listing on eBay up only about an hour with 30 people watching .... and a low buy it now price. Like new and hundreds less than KEH EX+ condition with the original box and goodies. So I bit the bullet. It’s the first AF lens for me in maybe 8-10 years. Now I’ve got to learn to keep my hand off the focus ring.
Have fun with your lens and I’ll try and do likewise.
We have had some very late (Spring) rains this year and when it came it was a bit violent. Only the strongest flowers have survided, the rest just look a bit sorry now. Therefore, the morning hunt for picture-taking opportunities has had a very low yield. Below is one of them.
