Actually, I did fairly well with my most recent iMac purchase. All I did was buy a new three year old model with rather basic features... 27" yes, but not with what they call the Retina screen that takes resolution from 2560x1440 to 5120x2880. Without the retina display and without an internal SSD the package was reasonable. I already had a 500 GB LaCie SSD I hooked up using a Thunderbolt port. It is fast enough for me and I'm more than happy with the display.
Of course, I'm delighted the world has room for both PC users and Mac users, even as there is room for those shooting with Nikon and those shooting with Fuji...

David - trying to remember what body you shoot, but assuming you are looking for AI/AI modified lenses only. I have the following AI/S lenses that I can part with. I have some Non-AI stuff too.
50mm f/1.8 Series E (good shooter)
50-135 f/3.5 (Leighton Lens). Body a little rough but optics great. Actually has a pretty tight zoom. Creeps some but not floppy loose. I have 3 copies of this lens. Don't ask
75-150 f/3.5 Series E - great shape, but classic loose zoom. Have the tape fix on it.
200mm f/4 AI - very good shape
Thanks George, I have a D800 and a D7100 here in Canada with me and would like to get a MF lens that I don't already have... so, that would be the 75-150 Series E, as I have copies of the others. I'll have a look around here to see if anything's available and get back to you. Thanks for your help!
Once you go Mac you never go back
12 years for me 5k 27 inch iMac
I bought a refurb with a 3 year warranty can't tell it from new
Stuck Jay with the PC I thought I wanted

Are you telling me that image is everything out there in Hollywood?
I cannot tell a lie Leighton... after buying the silver Df, which was my ONLY choice with regard to color, I found myself even more fixated on pre-AI lenses with silver elements. But I don't care at all how others respond to my setup. I do it all for myself. I LOVE the look. That makes me either shallow OR a connoisseur...

David, George said don't ask about the three 50-135mm's, but go ahead, I'm curious.

People were doing that (may still be) for a time on some portions of the Outer Banks of NC. Buying and tearing down the small beach cottages and putting up 10 bedroom McMansions. Crazy if you ask me. I can only image what the hurricane insurance is, if you can get any. Talking about disposable income!
I actually turned down a job transfer with promotion a number of years ago before the recession. Wanted me to move to Pleasanton Ca. The equivalent of my house here would be about $1.2M there and forget about matching land size. The 40% increase in pay that was offered would not even begin to come close to making up the difference.

He loves it
Now if only your taste in cameras was as refined as your taste in computers...
You were living in the Mac Mini world, last I recall. The iMac is definitely an excellent choice for photography. You did it right my friend... refurb with AppleCare.
I didn't hear from you about the video I sent... hope you got that. I've been enjoying that series a great deal.

My neighbor is in the tech world, which has been the driving force on real estate values in the Bay Area. Perhaps you recall our friend Bert who works in downtown San Francisco but commutes almost two hours to Modesto in the Central Valley. That is what happens in this crazy world... crazy long commutes.
If you don't already own a home, or have a landlord not interested in gouging renters, the pressure is often unbearable. A great many people are leaving the Bay Area simply because housing costs are so outrageous. Fortunately, my landlady has been very fair with me. She could get much more than double what I'm paying for my cottage. I expect my rent will continue to go up, but hopefully not to the point where I need to consider leaving the area. I could pay the market rate for a one bedroom apartment but would have nothing left for the finer things in life... as you say, lots of lenses.
I didn't say so since I wanted you to stay calm... but in looking at the Fuji X-T2 I was most drawn to the Graphite Silver Edition... For the same reason. But its MUCH too expensive...

I meant to reply but forgot
I really enjoyed it
The mini is in the back bedroom now I never was happy with the video card or lack of one
It was on the MB
Spending too much time at the pool Diane says she thinks I am wearing Chlorine as an aftershave
Still looking for that perfect Nikon body
I won't deny it Reagan... I've been in California MUCH longer than you've been in Florida, so how could I deny it. I moved here November, 1972... 44 and a half years ago. Boggles MY mind...

Leighton,You might want to read this....HERE Looks like 2018 is the release date. I'm not endorsing anything - it is like a religion to some. To me it's just another PC of a different flavor. A tool.

I heard that Apple is going to stop making their desktops. Have you heard anything like that? If true, Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.
