Well, I did take advantage of Harry's lenses he had in B&S... and another he didn't.

I saw the news story about that wild game, don't know what lit them on fire after that awful start to the season. Almost like the ghost of 2004 ALCS came early.

Enemy hat indeed. And why did he apply the red coloring?

As for the Sox, umba-leavable! In last night's game they scored for a tie in the 9th, 10, 11th, and 12th before winning in the 13th. Since June 25 they are 31-5, since July 3 26-3. Normally even the best teams win only 2 out of 3, the worst lose 2 out of 3. Baseball teams aren't supposed to go on winning streaks like that. When that stat-geek dweeb left (supposedly voluntarily, though I wonder) something clicked into place. Go Sox!

Siphiwe, the close up photo of the rose bush is excellent.

Colin, great street photography as usual.

Andrea, great capture and colors.

Another reflection photo plus one of Rafael's boats (target).

Thank you Serge. All the youngins fortunately look like their mothers.

Barb gave me a present yesterday. A Lady Bug was chewing on her Basil. About a third of the size of a coffee bean, and constantly in motion. I put her in a small petri dish, but she would not cooperate at all. These are the best two stacks - a 2 frame and three frame stack. Anything more and it started multiplying her legs. I released her after about 45 minutes. D850 with the 24mm f2.8 ais reversed. slight crops for centering.

Nice close-ups of the ladybug. FWIW, it wouldn't have been chewing on the basil. Ladybugs are carnivorous and go after aphids and such. Which is to say it is good to have them around! The red/black one are native North American. The orange/black one are Asian, non-native. They have the unpleasant tendency of hiding out in winter by finding crevices and such which retain warmth. That means to sometime show up in houses.

I spent part of this day processing some film shot over the last month with an F and an assortment of vintage lenses.

I realized I posted this last one a few days ago, that it isn't from the film roll at all. I thought I was posting another, Too much beer, I guess.

Also, the Asian ones actually can nip you (like an ant) and have a strong/unpleasant odour if you touch them. Up in Canada we’re seeing a LOT less native ones these days, alas, so the Asian ones seem to be taking over.

I guess she assumed. the holes in the leaves were caused by the lady bug. Speaking of aphids - my apple didn't have any this year last time I checked. I read about a non toxic spray for them and wasps, but never mixed any ir sprayed. The peach and bing cherries always get taken by the birds and squirrels.

Pisa, Italy:

The Baptistry of St. John, construction began in 1152 and completed, 1363. It is said to have excellent acoustics. The details and workmanship are awesome.

Pica Cathedral, ca 1092:

Upon entry we were promptly informed of the rules, no exploring and zero photography. One was allowed in for prayer only at a small side section. I have visited a few churches and cathedrals and never seen anything this restrictive.

Nice pics. Considering that the cathedral is more than 900 years old and is a religious building, the restrictions aren't surprising. Inspiring, yes.

Thanks, Jim.

In my experience, visitors are normally allowed to explore freely and photograph the interiors. I am glad they do not have these sort of rules elsewhere.

The only other Cathedral that I have visited that did not allow photography was Westminster Abbey. Thankfully the ban was lifted in 2020.

Great vivid colors from your garden

Serge you should do a photobook with your travel photos.

Its so disheartening to come to a place with architecture or other highlights and then you are told no photos! I generally check online first.

Impressive building Serge. At least you are allowed to photograph the outside of it. It seems there's never a shortage of architecture to photograph in Italy.
