Nice close-ups of the ladybug. FWIW, it wouldn't have been chewing on the basil. Ladybugs are carnivorous and go after aphids and such. Which is to say it is good to have the around! The red/black one are native North American. The orange/black one are Asian, non-native. They have the unpleasant tendency of hiding out in winter by finding crevices and such which retain warmth. That means to sometime show up in houses.
