Took this one just before closing as it is the only time this room is not crowded. Eric Clapton's main guitar 1960s-1970's, probably the Layla machine.
Lurking in the background above, is the eye catching exhibit for Jimi Hendrix.
One thing is for sure, I am getting lots of practice shooting through thick plexiglass panels.

Interesting how the Belgians and French have responded to Brexit - all gratitude for the losses taken by the Brits and Empire in WW1 and 2!
Similar to UK's attitude to SA - our fathers and uncles were good enough to fight for them and to die "up North" but now we have to jump through hoops to get a (very expensive) visa to visit. Not nice at all
Great to see the recent contributions. It has been a great tonic for sure.
Unfortunately I have not been in a position to participate in any capacity of late (apart from hitting the like button).
I have lost my mojo big time. Life's random nature threw a major curve ball our way a few weeks ago. Just as things tick up, you get levelled. It happens to us all. Enough said.
A timely vacation with my wife and children will hopefully kickstart some enthusiasm for photography.
I have only packed a couple of MF lenses (24/2.8 & 50/2) along with a 24-120 VR into my camera bag.
Let's see if the feel of Nikon-on-Nikon in a foreign, distant land can inject that spark again.
Oh - on top of a recent family trauma we have the awful mess of Brexit to live through.
We just dodged a bullet on the potential BA pilot strike that could have affected our outbound flight later this week.
Of course we might not get home as scheduled. If we do then ground staff at Heathrow might be on strike on those dates.
Hello long queues, welcome to Britain, goodbye luggage.
I often regret not putting down roots in Germany after having lived and worked in Bayern for three years. Rant over.
Unfortunately, the world in now full of silly buggers, and, as a friend keeps telling me, "there's no cure for stupid".
You just have to persevere, Colin and hang in there - sunshine is on the way

Curveballs flying all over the place Colin. Hang in there buddy and wishing you a great vacation.
Not much shooting here either. I am taking a day off for a mental break tomorrow and the family and I are heading down east to the coast just for a day trip. No strikes to worry about, just as long as the car holds up.

At least la belle France gave me a 3 yr Schengen - but I still had to travel 1000km and jump through the same hoops
As a direct descendant of various Huguenot families who fled for their lives 351 years ago I think I should have rights of return, don't you Phillippe?
Hang in there Colin. Despite buying a Z6 on returning from India I haven't had the camera out since. And was pretty much the same before our trip too.
Fortunately I've still got lots of pics to post yet !
Now that I've lost my job again, at least I'll have more time for shooting again. Life huh?
Andy
As for Brexit, jeez what can you say about that shit show 😳 Australia is looking on with bemused astonishment!
With the awesome subject matter you have in your neck of the woods, the temptation to use those juicy MF lenses will hopefully get you back on the photography saddle before too long.
Have a fun and safe trip with your family.
Cheers,
Serge

Bummer about the job Andy. At least I still have a good job. Thanks for the well wishes everybody. Nothing too sinister going on that time won’t heal.
We are supposedly heading to Hong Kong midweek to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Now I read that HK airport is closed to all traffic due to protesters. Could be looking at a shortened holiday, none at all, or an extended one if we get there as planned and things continue to kick-off. Could lose a lot of money / value on this since riots etc are unlikely to be recognized as a reason to pay out insurance. Think of the cameras and glass I could have purchased instead...... great present for me but less so for my amazing wife.
Hopefully the situation at HKG will get sorted in a peaceful manner and that nobody gets hurt if the police move in to clear the terminal.
On the plus side it could yield some interesting photo opportunities!
OK, so, playing with some old 3rd party MF lenses last night, back of the cupboard stuff. I wasn't very happy with the results on my Z6. So I started playing with many of my nicer Nikkors, still not very happy with my results. Start playing with settings, and somehow VR was set to "off". I have no idea how it happened, why it happened, if there was another setting that would force that, but I turned it back on and now I am happy with results. I wonder how long it has been that way.
It reminded of or when I am shooting indoors forgetting that my settings are still for brighter outdoors, and all of a sudden I notice ISOs in the stratosphere. Pay attention to the settings dummy.
I have friends and relatives in HK, it's turning out to be a s***storm. Some are over here on a holiday since that coincides with the school break, and now can't (or don't? hmm) seem to get back. I asked about the incessant notifications that keep popping up on their phones and an uncle showed me his group chat messages, with just about everybody in his friend circles: stocking up on water, canned food, cup noodles. I wanted to shake my head and cluck, 'when calmer heads prevail', then I realised that that's what the local mentality is like. Stay safe Colin!
