Phew!
That took as long to post as to actually take the photos!! I hope folks don't mind me commandeering so many pages here. Hopefully someone else gets benefit from this exercise.
This was a fun test and one I haven't yet completely analyzed. Right now, I don't have time to do more as I have a backpacking trip to get ready for. I'll get back to this next week.
Here are a few more photos from the Little Qualicum River, all in monochrome, taken with the 2.8cm f/3.5 H (first three) and the 85 f/1.8 HC and processed through LRCC and SEP2.
You had me going at volcanic activity . In doing an internet search to learn more about the area, I have not seen pictures any better than what you have been sharing

George,
I couldn't resist the chance to jest. You have to admit the shape of the cove and the burning heathland did make it look like an active volcano.
All that land beyond the horizon is operated by the Ministry of Defence. They fire live shells and undertake tank maneouvers on the heath. The red flags were flying when we were there. We saw armoured vehicles on exercise whilst driving around the perimeter but did not witness any gunfire.

Took my f3.5 50-135mm 'Leighton lens' to a concert. Green dot (D750) and magnified live view on electronic viewfinder (Z6) both did well.
Hey. So the place we stayed to visit the caves was called Aurangabad. They have what is known colloquially as "The Mini Taj Mahal"
It's pretty nice, perhaps the inlaid elements are coloured glass rather than the more exotic materials used in the "real" Taj.

Ah - a "real" 24mm lens! It is such a sweet piece of glass.
It would have been nice to include that in my comparisons.

I like the 24 because it doesn't have as much character to overcome, so in that sense is more 'transparent' when I use it. But they are all good tools!

Beautiful shots Jay!
Was the pano a 3 shot using the shift function without moving the camera?
George Horizontally the above pano subtends around 220 degrees so this is a 23 sub hand held vertical pano, probably the lens was shifted down in the taking.
Regan Never say never, here's a 3 shot pano for your consideration.

Where these taken? Looks like some shots I've seen from around Lake Superior or northern Lake Michigan
