He must be having a good time! There's some big ones down this way and once in a while they'll get in the ocean, though not usually the big ones fortunately.
Hope you make it to the beach regardless!
I am in the big town of Mebane. My son is in your neighborhood this week. Interning with the Wildlife Resources Commission this summer. Doing alligator studies. Was in Cape Fear gamelands, Green Swamp, Holly Shelter and Juniper Creek areas.
We usually go to the Outer Banks during the summer but nothing booked this year. We are overdue to hit that part of the state. If I come down that way I will definitely shoot you a PM before.

Made it to Southport for a few. Must be in a B&W mood these days, mostly prefer these to color versions.
Outstanding shots Matt. Is this with your Z6? I seem to prefer B&W lately as well.

They got trackers on a couple of gators down there. Up in Croatan area now. I kept trying to let me come along and carry their bags and do some documentary work, but they didn't bite.
Thanks, yea the Z6. A couple of the lenses are AI'd and I have a D700 but never reach for it...
I can imagine the liability letting someone tag along... but personally I'd probably be more worried about the moccasins and copperheads than the gators.

Yeah for sure. I made sure he had some snake chaps. This is their 5th week I think. So far so good
I finally found some time to finish processing my photos from my April visit to the west coast of Vancouver Island, of which only a few from Ucluelet remained. The set below shows some wave action courtesy of the 50 f/1.2 Ai-s (first two shots) and the 135 f/3.5 QC (last twp shots) and my Fuji X-T2. They were processed through LR Classic CC and Color Efex Pro. The new version of the Nik collection's full resolution rendering of images, alone, is worth the price, and they have also added some new goodies.

I meant to post these last night but time slipped away on me.
Three more from last Saturday. Leica M and the Nikkor 5cm f/3.5 LTM. That lens gets a lot of time on that body.
George
I understand why that lens lives on your camera. These are wonderfully sharp and contrasty images. Your processing of these are spot on too. Well done my friend!
I am envious of your shots Steve. Thanks for the vacation thru images!
George I see you live within my 700mile range for long one-day trips. Just may make a trip to your area. We usually avoid the Raleigh area, preferring the Outer Banks or the Mountains around the Blue Ridge.
We here starts our trip to Seattle for meeting up with family for the Alaskan Cruise, These are some interesting shots in Iowa and Montana.
The first is an area affected by the mid=west floods. Stuck in a traffic lane waiting for the flagman to let us pass. A little further up the road a railroad supply of ties used to shore up or replace flooded track Then Montana!

Ken, I try to avoid Raleigh when I can too
Next time you head this way please let me know. Always looking for an excuse to make a trip to the Banks or Mts.
Excellent b&w series from the market, George. Especially like the tones in the first pic.
Steve, echo the sentiment above on the lone pine on the mountain; It really makes the picture for me.
Matt, every once in awhile I see a rendering from the 50 f2 that piques my interest; yours above just did that, so I keep telling myself I don't need that.
Ken, a 700 mile range for a long day trip - wow - maybe I should get a Corvette! Super pic from Montana too.
What a great picture of what is called a “Gator Freighter.” It is a US Navy warship that hosts a US Marine Corps Detachment along with supporting aircraft for amphibious engagement. Usually 1800 or so US Marines including Aviators and support crews. The Naval crew is about 1000 sailors. As you can see, not much room on deck.
