I am working on the 35mm 1.4 AIS due to some aperture issues. I have fixed it and its working but before putting it back together a couple things concerned me.
The aperture blades are not perfect circle when wideopen at 1.4. In the pic below you can see it is sticking out a hair.
THe other thing I noticed is it hard stops at 1.4. Most lenses have a tiny give past the wideopen aperture, but this one does not have that. If anyone has this lens was wondering if your lens hardstops at 1.4 exactly.
Has anyone seen blades stick out a hair wideopen on other lenses? THis lens is a bit different since the blades go the opposite way of most nikon lenses so maybe this is normal.
I have my 35 in my kit with me today... I just looked and my aperture ring does hardtop at 1.4 exactly. No play at all past it. Without removing the mount I can't see the aperture blades wide-open. So I can't confirm that.
Walking thru the streets of St Thomas every store has someone out front trying to coax us inside
So we ducked down an alley and found this little pub for lunch
Probably the best food we had in any of the ports
I had Shrimp Tacos and Margarita's
Before wandering on down the alley
Greetings to all--this is my first post @ FM. Is it possible to upload images into this thread, or must all images be linked to other internet sites? Thanks, jt

Hi JT. Welcome to the thread!
To upload to the site you need an Upload and Sell membership.
Thanks for your reply, that gives me some peace of mind.
I put it all back together today and everything is good. Aperture looks correct, hard stop infinity focus and Minimum focus are spot on and everything is working well.
I had this lens for 2 years broken and I was a little scared to dive into it because of the CRC and its value. I have been working on a lot of lenses lately so finally felt comfortable going for it. The lenses can be frustrating to work on but it is very satisfying when it's over and the lens is working well.
A little advice for people who are just starting to try opening the lenses. Be very patient and make guide marks. Patience is most needed with unscrewing the screws and putting the helicoids together. If you get angry step away from the lens.

Visitors from out of state were in the neighborhood this past weekend. While I waited for them to show up at the local grocery store, I tried a little bokeh play with the 85 f/1.4 AI-s

Does anyone here use a point and shoot
Like a Nikon Coolpix or Canon Powershot
Going to buy one for my wife's trip to Italy
She will only use the Auto mode and needs to be under $500
Shoot me a PM if your familiar with any of them

My favorite is the Coolpix A. If you are cool with a fixed 28mm FOV, the D7000 sensor they stuff into it is about as good as it gets for pocket size. Used ones can be had around $300
