The 5.8CM was the first 1.4 for the Nikon F. Very different rendition to later 1.4 lenses and cannot be really compared, it is not a lens for regular use, but for special look, as these photos show.
The Ford T picture is great and the almost feels 3D, not sure how to describe it exactly.
Perfect timing Luka ! The steam is great too, screams New York to me.

Thank you Andy. As is often the case with me, it was the first shot I took that day, and the only shot that was not deleted. On top of that, it was the first shot with MFNG after at least a month.
Thanks for that, gives a good idea of how it draws. Definitely a bit different, though reminds me a bit of the 50mm f/1.4 Non-AI as well.
Appreciate it, and nice images!

Jose, seeing the bust of Hadrian took me back to my honeymoon in Rome 50 years ago. We hired a Fiat 600 near the Central Station and set off to Ostia Antica. In those days, without GPS, I not only had to drive on the right for the 1st time but also had to navigate which I did as I would in SA, by the sun.
I hadn't paid too much attention to the fact that I was in the northern hemisphere and accordingly to go more or less west I kept the sun on my right! The result was that we went just about due east and ended up at Hadrian's Villa just about 180* in the opposite direction! We had a good laugh about that but it took a long time before I got used to looking south for the sun rather than north.

Great story - but how did you navigate when it was cloudy
[Waiting for barrage of weather comparisons]
Shadows When I lived in London my system kept telling me that the river was north of the City even though intellectually I knew it was south - this after 4 years in that hemisphere. I find a pocket compass very handy too
Well since this thread is moving so slowly, I'll add a few more photos from my trip to Grand Turk.

My wife sitting on the beach in Grand Turk. I'm not sure it she's waiting for her ship to come in, waiting for a better man to come along, or just enjoying a few minutes away from me!

There are donkeys and horses that roam around the island. My wife found out that they really like cheese crackers.

I'm about to embark on a personal challenge for my everyday shooting. I am going to use my little Fuji XE1 and one of my Nikon 50mm's (Probably the Series E 50/1.8.). To give some versatility, I have two adapters; one with no glass and the other a Lens Turbo II. I'm calling it my $200 challenge. Camera, lens, adapters, and SD card all cost under $200 together. Some other aspects of my challenge...
1. In camera JPG's.
2. B/W preferred.
