Some of the buildings at the lightstation have been converted for overnight use, and the lodging is sort of trendy eco-touristic, so they wouldn't tolerate TV, - in fact I'd be surprised if they had hot water!
The small structure near the light has a marine exhibit with some fish tanks and there's a blue light bulb burning at night in there.
Local game that I can't remember the name of. Push/flick the white disc and knock your colour discs into the corner pockets. All played with a very fine sand on the board to help the discs slide.
Seeing as there hasn't been a post for 4 hours and I have a few minutes to spare while waiting for our car to take us to Ajanta Caves, next up is Madurai.
Madurai is half way between the East coast of India and the Western Ghats mountains where we were staying next (Munnar) - we had no plans to stop there or hadn't even heard of it. However we weren't able to do the trip in one go so we arranged 2 nights in Madurai.
What's in Madurai I hear you say ? A massive temple with 10 towers on top and there just happened to be a festival on, lots of pilgrims, and the road around the temple is pedestrian which was great, especially as our hotel was in the corner of the square and our room facing the temple.
Massive inside, a museum room with 1000 stone columns and other areas with huge ornately carved granite columns featuring dragons etc. Amazing. No pics inside unfortunately.
Now in every big temple there are areas of shrines where you can't access if you are not Hindu, in this case there are photos of these areas in the museum, huge gold effigies etc.
No problem though as they carry these around the temple at festival procession time at 7pm !
Loch Long, veeery early in the morning when I got up to get some sunrise shots of Eilean Donan Castle. Unfortunately I can't show these pictures here, as they were shot with a yucky AF lens.
This one shot with the 50mm f/1.2 AI-S, which sadly was the only MF lens I took to Scotland. This will change drastically in this year's holidays, as in the meantime I got the Z6, which makes manual focusing even more fun, it's amazing. I have hardly used it with AF lenses since I got it.
Ronny, Faroe Islands continue to go up the bucket list with each of your photos.
Andy, those looks to be sacks of super hot spicy peppers in the center of that market scene. It was a picture of the Madurai temple somewhere a couple years ago that got me interested in those tall south Indian temples.
John, sounds like you will have some ferry pictures in the snow soon. I read that Seattle's getting some unusual snow. Maybe those peaks will give you a better backdrop now.
Sar, superb pic of the kookaburra. Some of us on the other hemisphere never come across even a photo of one. I checked out its wikipedia page and it can make quite an interesting laughing sound.
George, that view from the Hatteras lighthouse is familiar from my only trip there. Although I didn't get a fisheye perspective when I was at the spot
