I feel like my MFNG addiction is coming back
I really love the feel of the all-metal Nikkors. Currently have the 55 1.2 and 105 2.5 PC (both have metal focusing rings) Can you guys please post a list of ALL Nikkors wider than 55mm that have metal scalloped focusing rings?
I appreciate the help.. thanks!
I feel your pain.....
After my upgrade from D700 to D800E I was no longer able to nail the focus with my MF-lenses and after a while I sold almost my whole collection of AI-S lenses (almost all where chipped with the Dandelion chip).
My MFGN addiction came back and in full force......
I didn't want to do the same thing again and found the scalloped lenses.
I now have 14 multicoated lenses from 1971-1974, 16 Nippon Kogaku Nikkor lenses from 1963-1971 with mm-scale and 7 NPN lenses from 1959-1963 with cm-scale.
Only the 55/3.5 PC is not scalloped.
I should make a new image of the multicoated as this is not the whole collection, but I'll wait when my 55/1.2 SC and 28/3.5 NC are back from chipping. :_)
Wait until Rafael chimes in; he's the real master.
Chris and Jose posting side by side... two of our most ambitious Nikon MF contributors. Neither has rested until they have created their gorgeous kits. Especially when it has come to pre-AI lenses, you are both inspirations to the folks who show up on this thread. It is an interesting note about the evolution of this thread that we began with attention fully given to AI and AI-s lenses. It was Ben from Sydney who stirred my juices when he showed off his 55 f/1.2 S.C. and then shared his 85 f/1.8 H.C. AI during the Great Nikon Lens Adventure. From that watershed moment, my attention turned to pre-AI lenses, quickly to be followed by others on this thread. But you two have definitely taken it to a new level. Well done...
Top (wide angles):
20/3.5 UD, 24/2.8 NC; 28/2 NC, 35/2 OC, 35/1.4 NC
Middle (normal):
55/1.2 SC, 50/2 HC; 50/1.4 SC, 55/3.5 Micro
Bottom (teles):
85/1.8 H, 105/2.5 P (Sonnar), 105/2.5 PC (Gauss), 135/3.5 QC, 200/4 QC, 300/4.5 H
All shots with D610 + Nikkor 85mm f1.4ais at 1.4m + tripod + built in flash + diffuser, ISO 400 at 1/60s, side views at f/1.4, front views at f/2.8.
Edit: oops, I need to update this family shot, since the new to family all scalloped monstrous 8mm/2.8 is in the process of AI conversion and cosmetics.
Looking at the image I see I've swapped the 28/3.5 NC 50/1.4 SC and 50/2.0 SC with pristine copies.
I need to find a pristine 200/4.0 QC and have it chipped, then this collection is complete.
I'm still looking for NKN lenses in cm-scale but they are (too) expensive.
I'm not sure if I'll keep the NPN lenses as I can't find a pristine copy of a 35/1.4 N and 28/2.0 N
As collection is a great part of the fun I'm now eying on some old(er) zoom lenses, in particular the 25-50/4.0 AI-S and 50-135/3.5 AI-S

Chris, NPN? Along with the 25-50 and the 50-135 I really recommend to pick up an 80-200 f4 Ai-S. I bought a pristine copy of that lens for $100 and it is one of the MF lenses I enjoy using the most

NPN - Nippon Kogaku Nikkor or should I say NKJ - Nippon Kogaku Japan

I admire all of you kit builders with your many lenses. I would go crazy with that many lenses.
I hate having more than I'm able to use on a regular basis. Weird isn't it?
Is that true elsewhere in your life Leighton, or do you have "collections" of other things you don't use regularly? Too many hammers? Too many chisels? Too many anything? Inquiring minds want to know.
I ask in part because I've been doing a bit of Spring cleaning/organizing and find myself with things that were important to me at an earlier time in my life that I'd still not quite ready to get rid of. When we stay in one location for an extended period of time it is natural to accumulate STUFF...

Something I'm good at! Accumulating stuff! (And I try to convince Kristina that it all makes sense in one way or another)
On the topic of too many hammers? No such thing! I have at least 8 different hammers, and some duplicates lying at home. Still, i never can find a hammer when I need one

Here's your 28 f/2 N.C. waiting for you in Germany...
I KNEW you were a hoarder Buddy... it is our friend Leighton about whom I'm curious. He MAY not feel comfortable with more that four or five lenses, but is he so parsimonious about other things in his life?
If it only were that easy. I know Chris already owns a Nikon 35mm f1,4 Nikkor-N (with nine aperture blades), but he is looking for lenses that have Nippon Kogaku Japan engravings rather then Nikon ones.
My wife's pride in our garden, shot with the Df a few of my prides....
I don't know the english name but in Dutch it's a "Witte Regen" or literally translates "White Rain".
The blue version is more common.
