I use my phone all the time. I'm actually more comfortable with it now than I am with a dedicated camera.
I have an OG Pixel and it's fine for what I need it to do.
Your photography basics never go away - composition, color, exposure, etc - and newer camera app AI and algorithms definitely help with the latter two. I rarely have to fiddle much as long as I know what to point the AF point to.
And the best part is that I can PP on the commute. I love Snapseed and some of their features are perfect for the look and feel I like. Leveling the horizon automatically is awesome, and perspective changes as well.
Right after, the photos get sent via chat groups for grandparents and siblings, easy.
I guess along the way, I've also become less fussy and focus more on simplicity. Being busy will do that to ya I suppose: on the leisure front I have books to read (Sanderson, you're a robot writing machine!) and games to play (I last played Magic The Gathering in high school, I might have picked it up again).
I feel like I live a double life but I only use my phone photos on Google Maps where I contribute reviews; this thread is where my non-phone photos go to.

Honestly, the largest issue I have is my wife. When she wants pictures of the girls (especially Penny, the baby) she gets super bossy and borderline nasty. When we go on trips, she "expects" me to document the trip, but at the same time gets mad if I am not by her side 100% of the time, or if I am behind the camera taking a picture. How am I supposed to take pics, if I can't do what I need to do to actually take the pic?! Then, when I get home, the only time it's allowable to edit is when the baby is sleeping. But at that same time, I'm expected to do the "honey-do's" around the house. It's very frustrating... Gets to the point where I hate taking pics.

Does anyone have images hosted on google photos? My upload and sell membership has expired and as I haven't used the buy or sell boards it seems a waste to pay for them.
i've paid regularly for more than 10 years and would be willing to pay something for uploads but $60 seems excessive when gauged against its buying power in SA
I see that many of our members upload from flickr and I've followed Fred's instructions without success (Using Google photos as my host) .
Any instruction would be greatly appreciated.
I have been using nikonimages.com and it’s sister site zeissimages.com throughout the time I have posted here at fm (8,5 years !). No fee. It only asks for donations as option. I hope it continues that way. Especially these days when free sites are rare.
Well another rainy day... How about a few black and white train shots? Was on my way to run an errand and got caught by the train. Grabbed the camera, guessed the focus and shot out of the side of the truck. Got lucky on the focus at f/2
Cropped to eliminate the window frame of the truck.
While I am on a train theme, here is a Polar Express replica that my dentist built around an old school bus. Uses in local parades and keeps it by his dentist office during the holidays. The kids (big and small) love it.

The Noct and the Z! George, that's a lovely setup!
It is a great setup. Mounted on the FTZ it is physically about the same size as the native 50mm/1.8 Z lens, but of course heavier. I think the rendering is great on the mounted on the Z. I did some testing between the Noct and the 50mm/1.8S Z mount. The Z lens is sharper edge to edge and "clinically" better overall, but the Noct still holds its own and in my usage wins out

I like the tones and it has that 3D look going on.
