Got my toy! Battery is charging now. They added a 64Gb XQD card that's not mentioned in the purchase process.
Z6 looks way more impressive than I anticipated. The look and feel of 24-70/4 S is not up to Sigma Art but for 300 Euro is not bad at all... The IQ I understand that is great. Anyway I took it thinking more for video.
Getting a little more up to speed here. More importantly some very good shots. Expected to see SNOW scenes, or are you all frozen in. It was very cold here with a drop into the 40's last two nights.
Philippe very nice harbor. Looks like a pleasant place.
Scott love the Bridge. Has to be Maine.
Well yesterday went to the Auto Show in Tampa where the new cars and some old were on display. Not a lot of exotics like last year. Heck got two free tickets from GM so why not. Used the 35-70 again which seems to be a good car show lens. Make framing a lot easier with pretty good color and sharpness. Oh!
The last shot will give you an idea how cold it was!!!
PS edit... middle of the day and NOT a person to be seen!

happy for you Mihai, have fun with your new toy, can't wait to see the pics.
Hi Folks,
Scott – excellent picture of the Narrows Bridge and the drive home.
Ben & Phillipe – you guys are really knocking it out of the park with your people shots
Ken B – great to see you are out shooting and participating on the thread again.
Peter B – great framing and colour in the Milky Way
Peter O – great insight to capture the little girl tryiing to scale the statue of the mountaineer
Jay – Mussel Man is kind of spooky. Is it lit up at night?
Mihai – Looking forward to your report on the Z6. Only +300 euro for the 24-70? It is +£600 in the UK.
Raphael – Bummer on the delivery (or lack of)
George – superb sunset images
Martin – good to see the comparison. I keep on meaning to try an extension ring on my 24mm.
Ken H – you scared everyone away! Great reflections from those highly polished car bodies.
Reagan – where are you??
Colin

Thanks Mr. Z! I'll have fun for sure. About pics, I really feel that I am not enough good for this little beast. We shall see.

Well, you are perfectly right Colin... that was a dumb estimation... in fact the difference in Romania between Z6+FTZ and Z6 kit is 3,000 RON (Romanian currency). This is a bit over 600 Euro. Anyway, There's no lens at this quality I can but for 600 Euro. The 24-70/4 sold individualy here costs over 1100 Eur... so it's almost twice.

Mihai, look forward to Z6 in the cafe shots Congrats!
Well, I think it will see other things too, but sure, it is much easier and not intrusive to steal images in cafes with this camera. Especially considering that it does amazing well in low light.
I recently bought the Nikon 55mm f/1.2 AI (thanks to everyone who gave me their insight regarding the 55mm f/1.2 and its variants a month or two ago on this thread) and today I finally had time to shoot some photos with it.
First impressions:
- Soft and low contrast at f/1.2, as expected (center is not too soft though if focus is perfect).
- By f/2 it's very sharp (I was expecting it to be similar to my 50mm f/1.8 Series E at f/2 but it's far better from what I've seen so far).
- MUCH harder to focus than my 50mm f/1.8 Series E, as expected.
Here's one picture so far (taken with the Nikon D600, shot at f/1.2) Vintage by Noah L., on Flickr
I didn't believe 3D pop nonsense etc was a thing...now I might be starting to, though! At f/1.2 it vignettes nicely for certain subjects and the subject isolation is stellar. From what I've seen so far, bokeh is pretty nice.
So far I'm really pleased with this lens - it's a lot of bang for the buck.
Unfortunately I had a busy day, spending very little time with Z6. I did late in the night (now is past midnight here) some snaps, just to see how works in low light. I used only the kit lens and 105/2.5 AI-S. Long story short. The kit lens while has at least a shortcoming (at least my copy) - the hood is very loosy, does not click at the end and is made from a thin, cheap plastic - has a stunning IQ. I really have very few lenses that are on par with it. As a bonus, it is amazing on video, keeping the focus when zooming or when moving... There's absolutely no comparison between what is capable for video Z6+kit lens versus my beloved D750 with any lens. During a video you can take up to 50 stills, only jpegs and small size, but still it is a huge advantage. Camera has a silent mode which is really mute.
I also must say that the camera menu, while is bearing Nikon DNA, it is much complex, with lot of new options... I had no time to visit them... it will take some time to get familiar with what's necessary.
Manual focus is a blast... I did only a few snaps indoor and over the window, but having the possibility to see in EVF at 100% gives you instant keepers. A quite major shortcoming is that camera does not records which aperture are you using on non-chipped lenses. I can live with that, but...
The XQD... is wow!... I have no card reader for it so I connected camera with my PC through the enclosed USB cable... the download speed is very fast. Really fast!
Another good thing, Nikon updated Capture NX-D with further fancy picture-controls... I saw some other new tweaking facilities... looks that this piece of software is growing.
Last but not at least, Z6 is a beast in low light... it is much better than anything I used by now. See some samples... like brick shots, nothing else, just to see how good is. I apologise for the high number of pictures in a single post. No NR (only in camera I think)
Z6+FTZ+105/2.5 wide open. ISO25600
ISO 11400
ISO 18000
100% crop
ISO 25600
ISO25600

One more thing... the look&feel of Z6 is great. The build quality is on top... and the grip is very deep so keeping it in one hand is easy and safe. For its size it seems heavy. FTZ is quite large... small lenses looks sexy on it. I'm impatient to mount 45/2.8 AI-P. Maybe tommorow.

Colin I doubt if too much artistic night time lighting would be tolerated in this upscale town.
This was exposed as a luminous fog was lifting, light was everywhere!
