Haven't been posting lately. I've been shooting soccer for my son with AF.
Fall is finally here. Lots of moisture in the leaves this year so I am expecting a spectacular fall colors this year.

Not to go off topic, but do any of you use Photo Mechanic as part of your workflow? PM me if you feel it is too off topic.
Thanks.

I do not use this app.
But why we're on the subject, you asked if this was "off topic". This is just my opinion, but as slow as the thread is now days and as close as we all seem to be, I don't think ANY subject should be off topic. Having said that, I wouldn't want to see us talk about politics or religion on here.
Besides, we seem to always get back to the main subject eventually.

Thanks, I agree. Main reason for looking at Photo Mechanic is there is the ability to add some EXIF data like focal length, serial number, etc. I wanted to see if you could add the lens description/name. But after looking through the Photo Mechanic forum it appears that you can't.
To add the lens name to EXIF I now use the LensTagger/ExifTool plug-in to Lightroom. So will probably just stick with that.

That's good to hear. You should come visit. I'm pretty sure you can still hit fall color in Leighton's and George's neighborhood this year :-)
You definitely can. Colors just beginning to show here. Had our first good frost early this morning.

Never thought of using that plug-in. I just use a keyword for the lens. Is there something I'm missing about having it in the EXIF?
I have one in the processing queu that you may like. It reminds me of Southern Kalifornia. Got a surfboard on the roof. 🏄🏻♂️
Ken, speaking of surf and socal, finally took the 800mm for a test at he beach, just an Oceanside rented cottage on a beach break. Pardon the iphone photo showing location and the umbrella shade to keep the lens from overheating. I tried it by itself, with the TC14 and the TC301, This lens is hard to use but one can get used to it, nothing wrong with my copy. It takes a lot to focus it correctly on a moving target, but on a gimbal with its smooth focus ring it is doable. Learned that the focus indicator on the D810 needs calibration with this lens, particularly with converters, also need to increase shutter speed.
Here are a couple of samples, one at 800mm, the second with the TC14, the crop with the TC14. With the TC301 the image quality was good but I could not focus it on the viewfinder. The Z6 may help this lens become usable, maybe.
You could use any of your programs to add it to the comments at least. Seems I edited the EXIF before to add a Nikon N90s to film scans before, maybe with Opanda

I like having the lens model info embedded in the EXIF. That way it follows the file (RAW or exported JPG) and not tied to a specific field in a database or sidecar file. Example below as shown in Finder.
Was looking for a way to add that info while importing vs. having to save metadata, edit the EXIF, then read metadata back to each individual file.
Will be looking for colour in leaves here a bit later in the afternoon. Have the N8008 loaded up with Ektachrome 100 (the new one!) and 55 1.2 K mounted. Colin, Eike and Chuong's pics up-page were inspiring!
I am intrigued by George's exif lens label maker. Although I have PSE, not lightroom. This is certainly on-topic for us connoisseurs of vintage pre-electronic lenses.
