Once again this year is dealing me a blow, although this one I expected to happen in the near future. I have a last vet appointment this afternoon for my dear sweet Taz, who always preferred sleeping on my husband. I haven't seen her eat anything in the last few days, but she had been drinking water. Yesterday, she wasn't even drinking from the water dish. Today I gave her some from an eye dropper, but still not getting to the bowl on her own. Gave her some half and half and she lapped at it a little bit. She's almost 18, my chest hurts, but from my heart breaking, not a heart attack. When she's gone, this will be the first time since 1987 that I've not had at least one black cat in my house....Show more →
I liked your post for the sentiment and love that you have for Taz.
So sorry.

Thank you Huss. She loved to play fetch, too, chasing the ball down the hallway and bringing it back to me (most times) The vet is going to see if they can get some of her ashes in a separate container so I can bring them to my husband's grave, too.

So sorry to hear about losing your cat. At that age, they are more than pets...their family. My cat Molly was 22 when I had to put her to sleep. Hardest thing I have had to do and the reason why I have not had any pets (save my daughters) since. My condolences.
Had found this through facebook, called a Dog's Will. Modified it for all pets.
Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, giving their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…
To a poor and lonely stray, I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.
I’d will to the sad, scared, shelter pet the place I had in my human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds.
So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and the pain is more than I can stand.”
Instead, go find an unloved pet, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to them.
This is the only thing I can give…
The love I left behind.
