That made me laugh Glen... it is like the disclaimer you'll find in movies that "no animals were harmed in the making of this movie..."

We'll have to encourage Reagan when he posts photos from now on... "Nikon camera, Nikon lens... neither modified nor harmed in any way."

You could be right... but they'll be sorely disappointed in what they find. There is no porn... not even a photo of a lovely lady. I don't think they'll be much moved by the quote I passed along to a friend...

Walking along
I followed the drifting stream to its source
But reaching the headwaters left me stunned
That’s when I realized that the true source isn’t a particular
place you can reach
So, now, wherever my staff sets down
I just play in the current’s eddies and swirls.

Dropbox and Google Drive are the only cloud storage I use. Both are reliable enough for business use. Next on my list is a “personal cloud” based at home. I have many 3TB drives that aren’t being used, so I hope to RAID a bunch together.

The problem with Apple's iCloud is that rather than simply being a repository for files, it actually removes those files from your computer's hard drive. My friend Alan informed me that with Dropbox any change made to a file residing in Dropbox is automatically transmitted to every device where that file is stored. That's pretty sweet.

I've used Dropbox in the past, but that was always to transfer files that were too large for the email service providers to handle. I generally used it with Rinie when we were sharing large photo files with one another. I eventually closed my account since I never used it. I think it is time to open another account so I can handle files for myself. I'll leave it to techies like you Kevin to create your own "cloud."

Microsoft Office 365 OneDrive is the same way as Dropbox. Yes, I use it on my Macs

Files are stored locally and in the OneDrive cloud. Any changes made are replicated to the other copies wherever they are located. I use that both at work and my personal Office365 business accounts. My son uses Google Drive at college.

I bet if we asked Reagan, your wife would say your HEAD is in the clouds most days...

What you describe has worked for me for years, but not so well when I want to use multiple computers to access files that are in a different geographical location. I don't have a data plan on my iPhone so I'm not attempting to access files there, but as I mentioned, I enjoy accessing them on my iPad in the living room and the MacBook Air at Sue's home ten miles to the north. For that I need something else. I understand I could copy files on a flash drive and carry them with me, but that would be a hassle.

I'll check out the option George mentions above, though I can't tell my friend Alan who lives in India that I'm touching a Microsoft product. Of course, he and I communicate via Skype, which is now owned by MS, so he really shouldn't complain. Skype is an amazing tool for communicating overseas at NO cost. I love it, AND, Microsoft is making changes that make it a better service than in the past.

Let me know if you need any help with the poem above. I was not kidding when I said you're living the truth of it, even if you don't understand a word...

Reagan,

Missing out on Italy - that's a pity because it is an amazing country.
What are you 'boys' going to be doing whilst home alone?

Does anyone know if the Non-AI nikon lenses are going to work on the FTZ adapter for the Z series?

I was thinking with the design of the adapter that a NON-AI lens can be used without being modified.

WOW Uncle Curtis is around

What a pleasure to hear from you sir !!

Mysh, there is a compatibility chart on Ken Rockwells site for the FTZ, I guess it came from the Nikon site somewhere

FM meet
There are no photos, so obviously you will all doubt it happened, but
I had the pleasure of a very good conversation face to face with Colin last evening.
What a thoroughly nice chap.

By the way I am thinking of parting with my 55mm f1.2 Ai - just saying

The Cloud is just storing stuff on someone else's hard drive.

I use WeTransfer for just sending images. Free transactions, up to 2gb per send. It's just a free zipfile sender, it doesn't overthink anything. All my authors use it now, so I shut down our ftp site.

Curtis,

I was a cave diver and cave diving instructor before I broke my legs. The streams and rivers in Florida leading to a headspring is the “holy grail.” The headspring is the terminus for an underwater cave that contains an underground river untouched by most and explored by only a few. Truly a paradise with gin clear water, unlimited visibility in a flowing environment like flying through the air.

My favorite quote by the late Rob Palmer from "Deep Into Blue Holes.” A book describing his adventures in the Bahamas.

“ Now there was only me in this timeless, eternal cave. I felt part of things, a tolerant guest.”
