Well here it is. My best effort with the tools I had
Thanks everyone for the input and recommendations!
Happy to say the grip is very solid again and the blade is as polished as I would like. Did not want to lose the character and some patina from years of use. To make it mirror would have required grinding and removing material. Did not want to go to that level.
I did go with the mineral oil soak of the stag horn and shims and it did restore them to size, so no additional shims were needed. A lot of polishing with rubbing and polishing compound and once done, I finished the whole knife off with a coat of Renaissance Micro-crystaline wax polish.
Since Nikon released a new video trailer last night featuring the legacy NOCT lens, I got it out for this shot. Will be interesting to see what they announce next week.
This part of the lake was full of arctic char. Incredible experience....
What you see in the horizon here is Norway. Lot´s of norwegian people hike or canoe between the borders. And the whole area, both in Norway and in Sweden are part of a huge nature reserve with severeal days/weeks of traveling in the wilderness. Rogen by Kristian Hagelin, on Flickr
There's a couple holy grail Nikkors in the website Peter found, that Rafael may be interested in. The 6mm fisheye could take some even more dizzy perspectives of the cruise-in classics at San Diego. That lens can see behind itself, so it would get the Chrysler Royal that Rafael has in the photo here, as well as the car behind him.
Laura, for a second I thought the SR-71 is the one at the Udvar Hazy museum near DC. But the other planes don't look familiar, so this must be in your neck of the woods.
Yesterday I went to Leeuwarden, the capital of the province Friesland. This year Leeuwarden is the cultural capital of Europe (together with Valetta, Malta).
This weekend (Friday - Sunday) they have an exhibition of the Royal de Luxe, a French mechanical marionette street theatre.
Their marionettes are huge! In Leeuwarden there where 3 marionettes:
The Dog (3 meters and 300kg
The Little Girl (5 meters and 500kg)
The Diver (11 meters and 3000kg).
It was extremely busy and it was not easy to get images (all this people with smartphones above their head )
And now the Diver.
When walking there were 5 pairs of man (on both sides) necessary to lift the legs. They did so by hanging on ropes and go down 2 meter. When on the ground the had to climb the platform and hook up to the others to wait for their turn again. Quite a heavy task.
Samy, most definitely the one in my backyard, figuratively speaking. There's also a U-2 hanging up there in the foreground. You need to come visit sometime!

and it's amazing how many "videos" are now in portrait mode rather than landscape mode! Looks like an interesting festival.
